Guest guest
FROM THE " TOWN MEETING " BY CONGRESSMAN STEVE BUYER HELD AT THE PERU, IN ON WED. JAN 12 2000 Residents meet Buyer By MISSY ST.CLAIR Tribune Staff Writer Despite the 30-minute delay in Congressman Steve Buyer's meeting with Miami County, residents didn't hesitate to let their voices be heard in such a rare opportunity. The main concern many county residents brought to Buyer's attention was the decline in the number of Grissom Reservists due to the Anthrax vaccination that has become mandatory for military personnel. Two different Grissom Reservists told Buyer that many were threatening to quit if required to take the Anthrax shot. Although the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the vaccine, most are more concerned with the small percentage it has had negative effects on. Several different Grissom Air Reserve Base (GARB) employees, both military and civilian, offered Buyer local insider information. A 16 year veteran Reservist said, " The government is spending $130 million on this program which is just making us mad and forcing us out. " Another told Buyer " Enrollment for Reserves is at an all-time low, mainly because of this. " " I understand the lack of trust in the government on this one, " Buyer said. He went so far as to offer to present all medical data available in hopes of changing some minds a Grissom. He asked that even if some disagree with his support of the vaccine, that they realize his sincerity behind it. He pointed out that having been a military man himself, he is well aware of the threats and illnesses out there and this vaccine has the potential to save lives. Other current events Buyer was asked to comment on was the 6-year-old Cuban boy, Elian . He said he didn't know the personal circumstances but he would like to see the boy's father testify away from Cuba and Fidel Castro. Another concern addressed was the abundance of money used for foreign aid and the lack of money for domestic needs. One audience member spoke of a single mother trying to support her two children on a minimum-wage job. He said, " If your family was hungry and so was your neighbor's family, wouldn't you feed your family before you feed yourself? " He went on to explain, " Americans do things that defy human instinct. " He added there is assistance out there for people who need it, there are programs such as housing assistance and food stamps. The goal to move people off welfare and make them independent is a good thing " END

Guest guest
Immune Network Initiates Hepatitis C Research VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)---March 23, 2000-- ImmuneNetRes (CDNX:IMM) Immune Network Research Ltd. (CDNX:IMM) announced today that it is initiating research at a Canadian university, to explore the application of its immunomodulation program to the development of a potential new therapy for hepatitis C infection. With an estimated 3.9 million Americans infected, the hepatitis C virus is a major cause of liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver cancer in the United States. At present, the only therapy that has consistently demonstrated any benefit is interferon-alpha, which is used alone or in combination with ribavirin. However, interferon therapy is expensive, poorly tolerated, and does not always result in a favorable long-term response. Immune Network has already established the potential of the immunomodulation approach in the treatment of HIV infection. The evidence from these studies suggests that a similar approach may be effective in treating hepatitis C infection. Scientific Advisory Network member, Dr. Grant of Memorial University, Newfoundland, Canada, will spearhead this research program. " There are certain similarities between the interaction of the immune system with both hepatitis C virus and HIV, " said Dr. Grant. " Our approach to immunomodulation in AIDS may also represent an important new modality for treatment of hepatitis C infection. " Other viral infections targeted by Immune Network drug candidates include human immunodeficiency virus (the 1F7 project), and herpes virus (MTCH-24). Herpes infection and treatment will be the topic of an upcoming online discussion at http://my.webmd.com/content/article/1709.51197.com. Guest guest
To all, I have read and watched for over a year hoping that all your efforts would work. It looks the hard work is starting to have an affect. The question I have is this. If the DOD and everbody has agreed that there needs to be more studies done, and has started these studies then why hasn't the mandatory vaccination stopped. You don't give a drug before the study. Does this make sense? Another question is, we know who has anthrax, does anybody ask where they got it from? For instance Iraq. We know they have it becouse we GAVE it to them in the 80's to use against IRAN, but I have not heard one interview or article mention this little fact. If a Canadian journalist can figure this out why can't our journalists or congressional leaders figure this out? Guest guest
From reading the blood type lists for over a year now, and from hearing Dr. D lecture last spring, I am under the impression that his first book was torn apart by the medical establishment, and so he tried to make the Live Right book live up to the scientific standards of that community. Whether he has succeeeded or not, I do not know. A1+NSa+b-MN www.acupuncturetucson.com tenzin@... Article > Gene cuisine. Guest guest
---It's the latest diet fad. It's not backed up by good science, " states Bonnie Liebman, director of nutrition at the Center for Science in the Public Interest in Washington, D.C. " I think people who are talking about these individualized diets are just trying to sell books. I guarantee that the blood-type theory will be gone within a year. " [ Dekany] That woman is probably eating her own words right now. How can anyone in such position say something that irresponsible?! Sherry - judging something like a diet (any diet) without actually trying it tells me only one thing about that person. She/he has an agenda. If you go to 's web site you can find many accusations like this one that responds to. (archives). Nutrition was based on believe systems until ER4YT came out. There are tons of scientific articles all over Pub Med. Have your friend look at them. 's work is so extraordinary/cutting edge so accusations like this are expected. So called " experts " have huge egos and most are jealous. It is that simple. Or that they should really be doing something else for a living. What is your friend's diet like? Hey! Your friend wants proof? Here it is: Lots of people strive on Atkins and lots of people strive on Ornish's diet. The very opposites. How can that be? We have different blood types. To be honest with you, I can't understand why everyone don't get it once they look at the cover. We have been brain washed to think that one shoe fits all. m2cI PS: In your hand you have the winning lotto numbers. You either play them and win, or listen to your friend who thinks they may not be the right numbers. If the diet works for you, that is all that matters. On the other hand, one night feed your friend a bunch of avoids for dinner. See how she/he feels next morning. love http://www.foodforyourblood.com --Original Message----- From: Sherri Cartee [mailto:scartee@...] Sent: Tuesday, July 31, 2001 7:28 PM Subject: Article > Someone may have already discussed this article, but I'd like some feedback. > > A friend who is concerned about my following ER4YT sent a link to an article > that puts down (that's putting it mildly) the ER4YT and Zone diets. Guest guest
Thanks, ! I appreciate your taking the time to write, and I really enjoyed your humor. Making a meal of avoids........hmmmmmmmm! Sounds like a great idea. BTW, I'm sold on Dr. D's research and the diet. I'm having a slow go getting started on it because everywhere I go avoids are part of every dish it seems, but I'm really trying. I'm making many positive changes, even though it's slow. I am actually starting to feel better. Thanks, too, for the tips. I'll do some research in order to give my friend some info. I'll also tell her what you said about Ornish/Atkins. That's an excellent point. Bless you, ! Sherri

Guest guest
I remember an article on the BBC about one of the medical groups here suggesting good and bad diets. But when I checked it out on the BBC website could find nothing that specified the Dr D's diet. I am now trying to see if I can find anything that does say this... I find it hard to believe it was listed as some blood types recommendations would be too far removed from conventional thought on diet... i.e. too little meat for type A's and not enough carbs for O's and so on. But that is my opinion only and will see what I can find of the article mentioned.
