Guest guest
Hi Mama: I know that many accept Mercola as their alternative medicine guru, but I've seen stuff at his site that is unabashed trash. I would search elsewhere for solutions to problems if I were you. Most no grain diets mean no wheat or gluten. Brown rice (which is a grain) is often used as an alternative to wheat/gluten and the Macrobiotic diet uses that as its core and claims all sorts of healing. However, the Macrobiotic diet has also been proven to lack a balance of nutrients and I have friends who were on it for more than a year who felt better once they were off of it. If you are interested in rebuilding and restoring your liver, for whatever reason or whatever the cause, there is nothing better than Milk Thistle and there is nothing cheaper. Do a Google search on that along with " liver " and you will get a wealth of information. Jay Mama wrote: >>>Of course an intake of a complex carbohydrate is also going to provide a bit of essential fatty acids, soluble fiber and insoluble fiber along with other vitamins and minerals of which the liver needs desparately to help in healing various ills of the organs<<< Dale (or anyone else who can help), I was wondering if you could shed some light on how one can do a 'no grain' diet as Dr. Mercola advocates but still fulfill the requirement for a 'complex carbohydrate' as you described above. Or is it possible to get the things the liver needs through other sources? Thanks! ) Blessings Mama.

They are complex carbohydrates it's just that some like carrots and corn have a bit more simple sugars compared to some other vegetables but these are not simple like sugar nor void of nutritional value. Greens and beans certainly get you a complex carbohydrate too. If you get an opportunity to get a copy of Dr Cabot's " The liver Cleansing Diet " I think you see quite a variety of foods that you would be able to eat and stay away from wheats too. Wheat give me heartburn around 45 minutes after eating it and milk causes me a day or two of IBS after consuming it. So for myself I have a pretty limited stock of foods available to me but seem to be doing just fine for the past number of years now. Such as??? I'm one who accepts Mercola as my alternative medicine guru, but I'm willing to accept he's not right on every issue. I'm interested to hear where you disagree with Mercola. Tina>> It's been 3 or 4 years since I found that he posted as gospel a report by another " alternative " med guy that was totally false and an out an out lie. Mercola did absolutely no investigation of the report at all. I can't remember what it was, but I had done some of my own research. The majority of what Mercola posts is good information but he is so anti-MD that according to him nothing that an MD does is beneficial and I've seen downright lies on his site in relation to MD's. There are many in the world who feel the same way regarding MD's but I simply try to find a balance. Jay

So carrots and corn are okay in moderation?? >>>get a copy of Dr Cabot's " The liver Cleansing Diet " ...you see quite a variety of foods that you would be able to eat and stay away from wheats too<<< I have a copy already. I'll go dig it out. Thanks Dale ) Blessings Mama.
