Guest guest
Hi All. I recently found out that there is actually a condition called " post-cholecystectomy syndrome " . This the diagnosis for the problems people experience after gall bladder removal (ie. pain, nausea, diarrhea, IBS, etc.) The name PCS was given to describe the post surgical problems back in 1947... and NOT ONE doctor has ever mentioned it to me or anyone else I know. They all said that " millions have the surgery every year and most are fine after. " If that was the case, then why would they come up with a name for this post surgical syndrome!! Also, the emedicine.com link below says, " ... Many articles state that a complete preoperative evaluation is essential to minimizing this disease and that patients should be warned of the possibility of postoperative symptoms, which may start at any time from the immediate postoperative period to decades later. " Many are NOT warned, so please pass the word on to anyone who may be considering surgery. I know sometimes surgery is necessary and some people are fine after, but many are not, and patients need to be informed so they know all the facts. Thanks and I wish you all good health....
