Hi There

My name is Avraham and we have a 4yr old who suffers from seizures becuase of a

condition she has. Its  called Lissencephaly. She is on Depalept (Sodium

Valproate) and our neurologist wants to change her medication to Lamictal

because her blood levels for Depalelpt are in the low range yet she is on the

maximim dose for her weight.

I am wanting to know if there is anyone who has experience with either of these

medications and the condition Lissencephaly.

Many thanks for your time.

Avraham

Hello Avraham,

My daughter has been on Lamictal for about 3 or 4 years now. She

takes it with Zarontin as well for her petit mal seizures. She has

also had one tonic clonic. She takes 150mg of Lamictal a day and it

seems to be ok for her. She used to complain more of stomach aches

or headaches and be a bit more tired than the rest of the kids her

age (she's nine) but other than that she seems ok. She also has

sensitivities to gluten & dairy so its hard to know when she gets

these little quirks if its from her food or meds, although I try to

keep her as clear as possible of the food issues. Good luck!
