Guest guest
Hi Rhonda and to all friends in the group, I have a 4yr old girl who is getting seizures since she was 1 yr old. She had meconium aspiration and a cardiac arrest during her birth. She has a brain damage in the oxcipital lobe area. She always gets the seizure in the sleep either immediately after going to sleep or early in the morning. She gets it at an average of once a month. We have tried different medication like  Sodium Valpoarte, Tegrital, Torleva (Levaracetam) and Topamac. At present I am giving her oleptal (Ox carbazepine) Eptoin (Phynatoin)and we are trapering off Torleva and are going to add on clonazepam (any comments on this drug). Some times before she gets it, she becomes very hyper and starts talking continously. This mostly happens just before sleep and that time we give her 'Frisium' 5mg She is very good in her speech and memory. But she is weak on her right side and does toe walking with her right leg.(I wonder if these things will get better as she grows ) How to improve her writing skills??? Please don't hate me for asking too many questions. Recently we checked her calcium level and it was low, so we started giving her calcium suppliment. I saw you mentioning about some natural Calm. What exactly is this ? and where do we get this? (Did I mention that I am from India). Some one else mentioned about Aloe vera Juice. Does that help control seizures??? Can any body share with me similar experience with your kid and Food to watch out, or any thing which can bring the seizure activities down. Guest guest
Hi Sangeeta: Welcome to the group! You can scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says archives. there look for old posts on nutrients, foods, supplements that help seizures. Also read my posts on triggers, and Arnolds posts on foods that contain the B vitamins. 's post on healing with raw milk and eggs. read about neurofeedback and brain injuries. You now that yogis can make the same changes in their brain with meditation and even better than the western way with neurofeedback. Read about brain plasticity! There is also a lot of studies of regrowing parts of your brain with exercise and sun exposure. Brain cells of some parts of the brain will regrow they are not for ever dead as we used to think. There was a big article in the news week about a year or two ago about that. Read my posts on seizure detectives! Some people say that calcium can rebuild your brain. I personally found it to be a stimulant of the brain and in some cases cause more seizures. However, I am still looking into this... I visited your country 2 years ago and fell in love with it. What a fascinating place and lovely people! You have a lot of reading to do. Don't ever hesitate to ask good luck!
