Guest guest
About 6 or 7 months ago, I started using Natural Calm for my son who was having seizures every day, despite the Ativan we were prescribed to give him at night. I found a posting here on magnesium and calcium balance and started with Magnesium in a capsule form. I was actually trying to use it to help constipation in my youngest autistic boy who does not have seizures and I really didn't see much improvement. I can almost say that behaviors worsened. Then I changed to Magnesium Citrate as found in the drink Natural Calm and great things happened...the seizures lessened dramatically!! I started giving it to my eplileptic son every morning and night and for the first few months tried to balance his bowel movements which could be terrible if I gave him too much. He actually went weeks without seizures!!! Praise God! Then, however, with that same protocol, the seizures came back with a vengeance. Even when we gave him more Calm, we noticed he was having them more frequently. So, we stopped the Calm and then the seizures stopped. Within the next few months (and as I am using it now) I am only administering the Calm AFTER he has a seizure instead of proactively. I am gathering that there is a fine balance of too much or not enough Calm. I am not a doctor and have no clue what the magnesium is doing? Does he have an imbalance or is the magnesium helping to move the toxic stuff out of his gut? Am I using this product incorrectly? I know with autism there is a gut/brain relationship. In any case, the seizures have overall lessened by this magical product!!! But, I would LOVE to get back to the weeks without any seizures. Does anyone have any ideas on this??? If you haven't tried the Natural Calm, I highly recommend it. My son has had uncontrollable seizures for 7 years. We have tried 11 different anti convulsants with no success and terrible side effects.
