Are you eating anything fresh? Anything with any kind of dairy or

sugars....Even corn, squash, melons...etc went thru me after a bit. Ask

your p.c to do a cbc, metabolic, thyroid and urine test.......Make sure you

leave nothing untested.....Good luck...When I started to get dizzy and pass

out my liver enzymes were off the wall...Take care of your self......

in Mo........

Dr H.....3/4/3 358/182 gained back 65 due to water weight. Reversed

2/6/4 now 201 or so.......20 more to go.

Hi Joanie,

Just curious...Are you staying for the support group meetings or just

following the diet and going for weigh in? Also, which of the plans are you

following? I am seriously considering this option as well. Congratulations

on a great month. Keep up the good work.

Hi Rhue! Nice to hear from you. I follow the " flex " plan, BUT I

incorporate a lot of the " core " tenets -- that is, I eat fairly clean, and

stay away from most refined stuff, other than my protein shakes. I do stay

for the meetings, because I think they are helpful, and I figure I paid for

them!

You might want to give it a try; there's no big up-front payment, and you

can quit at any time. I joined when there was free registration, but I

don't know if that's still going on.

Keep me posted!

Joanie,

I haven't seen any responses to you about the triad area here in North

Carolina. Just thought I would pass on some info. They are building (and

hiring) a huge Dell plant here. There are of course many Universities, Wake

Forest, Duke, NC State, Carolina. There is also the Research Triangle area

between Raleigh and Durham. Lots of large hospitals, as well as teachng

hospitals. I hope this helps some. I would love to see you come our way.

Best wishes on your search.

Thanks, Rhue! I'll pass the info about Dell on to my husband. We just got

back from an impromptu trip to upstate NY, specifically Ithaca and the

Finger Lakes area. It seems like a very good fit for us, and there is

probably work for Jim -- Lockheed is up there -- but I do worry about

the cold winters! Funny, I used to love the cold, but since the MGB, heat

isn't as much of a problem.

The one big concern we have about the Triad is the quality of the public

schools. Test scores appear to be lower than in other parts of the state.

While this is not conclusive by itself, it did concern me.

We will be exploring all of this over the next few months...it's kind of

exciting to find a new place to live! Let me know if you think of anything

else -- thanks!

Joan-We have a Lockheed here in Greenville, SC!!! AND we have a great

support group of over 60 post-ops! GREAT weather too might I add. We are 3

hours to the beach and 2 1/2 hours to the mountains. Average year round temp is

76 degrees. About the same as Hawaii. Perfect location most say!

Come here to Greenville....I work for a hospital....I have connections for you

too!!

Isn't it great to have people fighting over you?

Thanks, Joanie. I switched last week back to Flex for the upcoming holidays.

I find I can better handle it day by day than a week at a time. The best

thing I did was to go on Core. Now I try to combine the 2. I hope it

continues to work. Thanks for all of your encouragement.

Joanie-OK....I saw the BEFORE pictures, but all I saw in the after picture was

your daughter and Dad!!!

Seriously........I would not have known that was you! You look nothing like

the pre-op pictures AND You look so much younger! And PLEASE.....why in heavens

name, do you want to lose any more weight? You look fabulous!!! Almost too

little! Did you think anybody would ever say that about you?

Subject: My before and after pictures!

Hi you guys...I just started a website that will include pictures of my

ongoing weight loss. I should have done this a long time ago, but life

is

busy, and there just wasn't time.

Right now, the site includes my pre-surgical pictures (290 pounds!) and

a

recent Christmas photo (~138 pounds). I will take a full-body shot

soon to

make a direct comparison to the before pics, but I think you'll see a

pretty

dramatic transformation in the two shots that are there right now.

Here's the link:

http://home.comcast.net/~jbaird1/

Let me know what you think! I am still not at my goal weight, but I am

fairly happy with how I look at present.

Hope you all had a great Christmas!!

Thanks for the kind words, Judi! I'll tell my hubby -- who is younger than

me-- that he's now my Dad. ;) As far as losing more weight goes, I am

hoping that losing a bit more may help with the pockets of fat that remain.

My upper body, with the exception of my " batwings " is fine, but I've always

been comparatively small on top. However, the panniculus and thunder thighs

remain, and another 10 pounds may help. I also plan to start back into my

treadmill work in hopes that some cardio work will reduce the problem areas.

It's nice to be able to try to perfect things...in the past, that would be

something that I could not even imagine!

Happy New Year!

Don't really know what brought all of this on, but my lung specialist wants

to do a CT scan on my abdomen to see if possibly my diaphram was damaged

during the MGB. One of the chest x-rays or scans showed that the diaphram on

the right side was working well, but the one on the left was much higher and

not functioning properly. The left side is where the most resistent of the

pneumonia is. They do agree that I probably picked up some hospital bug

while I was in for the gall bladder. I was on Vancomycin (sp) for weeks

along with Levaquin. They called me today about some blood work levels that

concerned them, so I have to go back in on Monday. The saga continues. I

sure hope someone soon writes an end to this story. Thanks for your

comments. I will keep you posted.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. GSE is gratefruit seed extract -

used for yeast overgrowth. The other thing I have been using is high

dose (10mg 3 x day) Biotin.

You mentioned using chlorella for metals but my understanding is that

it stirs up metals without effectively removing them. It should not be

used if your son has any amalgam fillings.
