Guest guest
>>>using vinegar to cure acid reflux....the reason we suffer from acid reflux is not that we have an overabundance of acid in the stomach, but that there is 'too little' acid.... The solution to this problem... is ... reflux sufferers should be 'upping' the acid intake ....<<< Hi n, I completely agree that the vinegar is the answer in treating Acid reflux. At least it has worked for me. >>>my great-grandfather having a cup of hot water with a tablespoon of malt vinegar every morning before starting his day<<< Me too. I posted about it a couple of years ago in my 'What I'm doing now ' post I think it was. But I use Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (or lemon juice) every morning on an empty stomach. But Trudeau's book has not been recommended by any of the people I have spoken to. I posted about it recently and got some responses to the list so check the archives for other comments ) Blessings Mama
Guest guest
Trudeau (this guy is all marketing; be careful. He started with a memory program and now does infomercials on anything he can get his hand on and make a buck) is absolutely right. Acid reflux can be from what he describes but it can also be from a spastic valve that opens up when it shouldn't (caused by stress a lot. Got something to say but you keep trying to swallow your words?). The phenomenon he is referring to has to do with the stomach acidity which is controlled by HCL production. Vinegar will work but supplementation with betaine HCL would be far better. Here is how it works: When the food goes down into the stomach HCL is produced to cleave proteins into smaller (but still huge) polypeptide chains. The valve at the bottom of your stomach (Pyloric valve) is ph controlled. If the ph is below three (acid) the valve opens up; if the ph is above 8 (alkaline) the valve opens up. If you do not produce enough HCL the ph never drops below 3 and the food sits causing " heartburn " . The ingestion of an antacid will bring the ph above 8 and the valve opens up giving you relief from the symptom. This is ultimate early death! The proteins are not properly cleaved and will now cause all kinds of unhappy things over the long term. The solution is to take extra HCL: The proteins get properly broken down, the ph drops below 3, the valve opens up, and wa la you have relief. This is a 2 hour lecture condensed to one paragraph; treat it as such.
