Guest guest
I am giving her B6... and I see her being a bit calmer and her impulsivness is going away a bit. What can I expect to see happen with the B12? On Nov 29, 2008, at 9:43 PM, L. Guest guest
Methyl B12 may make her hyper, but there are several published articles that show it is beneficial. We found a alternative MD neurologist who also reccomends it. I can't remember the dosage off the top of my head, but I think Autism Research Institute has some information-or google??? Here is a decent article that provides a good overview of the basic nutritional therapies for seizures. I don't think it mentions B12 though. http://www.worldwidehealthcenter.net/articles-115.html > > From: Arias <thinkingheads@ sbcglobal. net> > Subject: [ ] Which B's ... > > Date: Saturday, November 29, 2008, 10:34 PM > > do you think are the most helpful for seizures? Guest guest
My daughter seems to react to methy groups. Perhaps I could try another form of B12. I just can't get my daugher to sleep. She is bug eyed until midnight. She can be calm all day and the BOOM she is wide awake and can get pretty mean to. I was thinking that it is her seizures, but isn't it wierd that it happens at about 6PM or 7PM every day? the nuerologists did say that the spikes on her EEG's do show up at night though. My dd just never turns off. Her brain is always on. Ugh!!! On Nov 29, 2008, at 10:12 PM, L. Guest guest
I have the same exact problem! I would only try B6 for a while to see what is going on. The b12shots were bad for us but we didn't have a problem with the supp. Have you thought of trying Taurine or carnosine? I have heard some good results from these- one or two negatives. Also when my son is acting hyper it is most likely a food issue-Â We just had 3 bad days from garlic seizures- hyperactivity etc. Best of Luck! > > > > From: Arias <thinkingheads@ sbcglobal. net> > > Subject: [ ] Which B's ... > > > > Date: Saturday, November 29, 2008, 10:34 PM > > > > do you think are the most helpful for seizures? Guest guest
I had my dd on a diet of just: turkey rice lettuce and pears... and she still doesn't get tired at night. Can you relate to this? Sometimes my dd will say " mom, I feel lost.... she said her eyes can see but her brain can't see, and she forgets where she is " Do you think that is a seizure? Doctors say her seizures are nothting to worry about. Duh!!! On Nov 29, 2008, at 10:41 PM, L. T. wrote: > I have the same exact problem! I would only try B6 for a while to > see what is going on. Guest guest
Have you had her tested for auditory processing issues with a trained audiologist? Just a thought- You are lucky in a way b/c she can tell you what she feels. MY little boy can't talk so it makes things a huge guessing game! Sorry if I missed this but is she on meds now -Were the supps in addition to or in place of.  What you describe could be a space out/absence seizure but there really is no sure way of knowing without having an EEG AT THAT MOMENT. Eeg's are so uselss unless they are taken at teh right time and even then treatment doesn't really change.  As far as the sleeping- I recently got him to sleep by 9:30 by making him get up very early in the mornings. Unfortunately the sleep issue is important as it lowers our kid's thresholds for seizures. Ok to vent now- Isn't it pathetic that neuros are so clueless and basically only use our kid's as guinea pigs for the new drugs? I am so sorry to sound so depressing and I'll probably catch some slack for this- but in this day and age it just shouldn't be- It is shocking that parents have no help and are basically on their own in a potentially life threatening situation. Even EMS is clueless half the time. Ugh! Ok I won't post anymore- Sorry! I wish you the best and if I come up with anything at all I will post. > > > > > > From: Arias <thinkingheads@ sbcglobal. net> > > > Subject: [ ] Which B's ... > > > > > > Date: Saturday, November 29, 2008, 10:34 PM > > > > > > do you think are the most helpful for seizures? Guest guest
, I know this is an older post, but if you're still on the list could you please let me know if you ever solved your daughter's sleep issue? My son is 13 and hasn't really slept through the night since he was 2. I've done many different supplements, a few drugs, gluten free for 6 mos., nothing has helped. > > > > > > > > > > From: Arias <thinkingheads@ sbcglobal. net> > > > > > Subject: [ ] Which B's ... > > > > > > > > > > Date: Saturday, November 29, 2008, 10:34 PM > > > > > > > > > > do you think are the most helpful for seizures? Guest guest
My son (7) has had sleep issues since he was born. He had no problems falling asleep....just staying asleep was the problem. He would wake up in the middle of the night and sometimes stay awake for 3 hours. We tried melatonin and other prescribed meds from various Dr.s. I didn't like giving him the prescribed meds but at times we just needed sleep and it would work. ...but eventually it didn't. Our DAN dr. told us to give him magnesium glycinate (from Kirkman labs) in the evening. Well, IT WORKS!!! We have been doing this for well over a year now. He is on the ASD spectrum also. I can say that over the last year I can count on one hand how many times he has woken up. If you need any further info I'd be happy to share. Hope this helps. I certainly know the stresses of lack of sleep! Margie
Guest guest
I don't know if this will help you. But I could never sleep through the night until I started taking " raw adrenal gland " from swansons vitamins online. Its only $4.99 for 60 so even if it doesn't work you have not lost much. I take one in the morning and one and night. Also niacin helps sleep by relaxing the blood vessels in the body, my friend uses this.
