Guest guest
Depakote was very damaging to my son's health. affecting his muscular development , strength and energy to the point that he was tested for mitochondrial disorders and even muscular distrophy was ruled out. Turned out that he has a VERY COMMON genetic variation which does not allow him to utilize folic acid properly and that depakote depletes folic acid. Consider pressing for a test for the MTHFR polymorphisms. This is nor commonly tested, although one variation is very common in the general population, more than one can occur and may be associated with health problems related to the inability to clear toxins. Guest guest
Hi Cherri, Almost all AED's interfere with Folic Acid absorption-going back to Dilantin which I once took. Very often the seizures can be attributed to inadequate nutritional intake during an uusual growth and development stage when the body requires more of essential nutrients such as the B Complex vitamins and trace minerals such a magnesium and calcium. I was able to discontinue all medication with this dietary change. For good Food Sources of these nutrients see inour archives message # 14449 Archives: _messages/ _ (messages/ ) arnold
