Guest guest
I use a wonderful VCO called Coconut Pure, there is a link to it in the link section, but I'll put it here for you. You can buy it a gal. at a time and the shipping is resonable. It has a nice light coconut flavor. http://www.urimembers.com/corporate/coconutpure.asp?DistID=10890 > The one for $95 for 5 gallons has no coconut flavor. It has taken me quite a longgg time and I still have not used the full five gallons so be sure you know what you want. If you are wanting some with flavor and some without you might like to start off with a gallon of each. I have had several bad experiences with Tropical Traditions and have since ordered all of my coconut oil from Wilderness Family Naturals. They have wonderful quality, the best price and just super customer service!! For me TT had failed on all three points, especially the last. WFN is my personal recommendation, I love the centrifuged coconut oil--I've never tasted coconut oil so wonderful! > > > > Hi, > I'm trying to find the best oil for the best price and am getting so confused. Guest guest
Same here.I love the new centrifuged oil , but the traditional is good too.first choice is centrifuged but I wouldnt hesitate for the traditional either.I have had wonderful service from both Tropical Traditions and Wilderness Family Naturals. Both companies are run by great folks.TT has done alot to promote coconut oil and has created much of the market for coconut oil with their early advertising.I would not have learned about coconut oil without them. I personally feel they are foolish to not sell Bruce Fifes books at there site. But that is their call.I cant wait for my new book and oil to get here from WFN. Guest guest
When I first started using coconut oil, I bought a gallon from Tropical Traditions. It was thru TT that I first found out about coconut oil and its benefits. The oil had a " catch in the throat " quality to it which I did not like. I tried to find out info on 's list about what might be causing the problem. The answers he gave were very unsatisfactory. When Annette from Wilderness Family Naturals answered that question here on this list, I looked into WFN. The service I have received from WFN has been amazingly good. I cannot recommend them more highly. There may be other companies which sell products of equal quality, but since the WFN service is so fine and their quality is so high, I have not been shopping around. I am very happy with WFN. Centrifuged oil is my absolute favorite. I used to consume a lot of coconut milk, but recently discovered that the emulsifier used to keep it flowing so smoothly adversely impacts my fasting blood sugar (I am a diabetic), raising it 10-15 points, that I have had to give it up. Guest guest
Most of the sites that have VCO have samples for a small amount of money. I would certainly suggest a sample first to make sure that you will be able to tolerate it. Kathy -- Re: confused Vicky, Must you a gallon of each type of vco? Do they not come in small containers or maybe you can ask for a sample first then from there decide which you really like. confused Hello all, Thanks so much for all your help. Also they will send you a free sample. www.simplycoconut.com confused Hi, I'm trying to find the best oil for the best price and am getting so confused. Would someone please tell me their favorites. Guest guest
Why do they not sell Bruce Fife's books? I noticed that when I was trying to order them. If they had had Fife's books, I would have ordered their coconut oil. I ended up ordering books elsewhere and just getting the oil from my HFS. I also noticed that I had mentioned store bought coconut milk and my post was not allowed and I got an email saying my post was blocked because the only healthy coconut milk is the one I would make myself using their cococonut cream. Are all store bought coconut milks bad? There are no brands that don't have an emulsifier? > Same here.I love the new centrifuged oil , but the traditional is good too.first choice is centrifuged but I wouldnt hesitate for the traditional either.I have had wonderful service from both Tropical Traditions and Wilderness Family Naturals. Both companies are run by great folks.TT has done alot to promote coconut oil and has created much of the market for coconut oil with their early advertising.I would not have learned about coconut oil without them. > I personally feel they are foolish to not sell Bruce Fifes books at there site. But that is their call.I cant wait for my new book and oil to get here from WFN. > IN NC

Guest guest
I have no idea. I do know that when I ran out of coconut milk my fasting blood sugar dropped by 10-15 points and coconut milk listed 0 grams of carbs on the label. So I am assuming the carbs are in the emulsifier. Guest guest
Just know that you are not alone...I felt the same way when I found out.. I have three children too...and one of them tested positive. I found out two years ago..and am going on 30yrs positive. I too just recently entered into a relationship with a wonderful man.. And he has been a tremendous support for me. He helps me to focus on the fact that Im here today..and I need to live in that with him and my boys. I was very angry at first...I thought to myself that it was so unfair... I had always taken care of myself..played by the rules etc... And this is what I get?????? Absolutely understand how you feel.. The best thing you can do right now..is try to not to panic. (and you are NOT putting him at risk, if you have a " normal " sexual relationship...make sure you both understand that) My ex husband and I were together for 17 yrs...and he is fine. Let yourself cry, and feel all of the things you are feeling so you that you can start to help yourself, and those feelings wont come back to bite you because you ignored them the first time. Also don't give this illness more power than it deserves...you can still do a great deal to keep yourself well. One of the most important steps...will be education. Be aware that there is a great deal of biased information out there..and most of the stuff on the internet comes from Drug company sponsored sites....it's in their best interest$$$$ to get you to panic. Do you know if you were infected recently...or is it an older one.?
Guest guest
Confused, I've had HepC for thirty years, I've also had A and B. It's only now that the illness has caught up with me, (along with all my broken bones, too much living!). My Dr. has been bugging me to TX it of course so after long and hard thought I told him okay. After doing a bunch of tests he informs me I I am not a good candidate because of my anemia! I also have Type 3, it supposedly is the easiest one to trreat. One reason I hesitated Is that I live alone, I won't have any help. I'm going to research into alternative medicine, has anyone out there done so? The Main thing is, you've just been diagnosed, you have a relationship and you haven't even started treatment yet. You need to get off the pity pot, maybe you should ask your Dr. about antidepressents, they really help sometimes. SAM

Guest guest
Hi Tricia, Yeah it can be a pain to figure out what the different meds are for when you have more than one diagnosis. Lexapro is precribed for depression and anxiety. So my guess is that it will help with the depression, separation anxiety, and probably a little with the specific phobias. But that's a guess. Taking a booster pill is something a lot of people do because by the afternoon the effect of the drugs is a bit less. With the kids I used to work with we gave them their meds in the morning, and then any meds that were boosters they got at 3 pm. As for the number of pills a day, I can sympathize. But I do know some kids who are on that many pills and actually needed all of them. It's definitely something to bring up with your doctor when you go on the 22nd. Hope this helps! > > Hi, it's Tricia again. Guest guest
Welcome, I think we all have different answers for you. I think you just decribed me before surgery. I weighed the same as you same weight and the same eating problems, however, I am a little older and I had high blood pressure. I had the lap band put in by Dr. Aceves, the best doctor around and the best crew. I don't regret not one day that I did this. I had the surgery done in July 2006 and have lost 72 lbs. I feel great, I look good and I have a complete new self esteem. I have always had the good personality, but with the weight gained I shyed away from alot of different functions and people. I can now live again. I haven't reached my goal, I have 40 lbs to go to reach my first goal. The reason why I chose lap band over gastric was for one it was less risky and like you I'm terrified of surgeries and for two I didn't have the time to take off work. I had surgery on a Friday and was home on Sunday and back to work on Tuesday. There are good days and bad with this surgery. There are days that you are too tight and just can't get too much down and there are days that the restriction is not there, it's all about learning and working with the band. I love my band and very happy I had my surgery. I hope this helped a little. Good Luck on your decision. <mtjburns@...> wrote: I am 27 years old with a BMI of 46.2. I am 5'7 amd weigh 295 pounds. Guest guest
,My sister, sister in law and brother all got the bypass done a number of years ago. They all lost a fair amount of weight however, over time, they have stretched their stomachs out and gained a lot of it back. My sister in law has been the only one that has been able to keep it under control. My sister has had a fair number of health problems which I think are related to nutrients not being absorbed. They are not as heavy as they used to be but, they have gained a lot back. The lapband appeals to me because, you can reverse it if you have problems, and you can control with the fills how fast you lose. I have seen a lot of people who have lost a lot of weight fast and don't look or feel healthy. If you have a BMI of 46 and are 27 years old, I can guarantee you that it will only get harder as you get older. You will also start to have health problems related to being overweight. I know it is scary and I have waffled back and forth for a number of months now. I do plan to have the lapband in April or May and look forward to once again feeling like I can walk up a flight of stairs without breaking into a sweat. Good luck on your decision. You will know when it is right for you. Colleen Confused I am 27 years old with a BMI of 46.2. I am 5'7 amd weigh 295 pounds. Guest guest
, you are so young. Lap Band outweighs the bypass. It is less invasive, no pain, it has fewer complications, you retain the ability to digest your food and receive nutrients in a normal way, and it is cheaper. I woud suggest you continue with your research. Problems with the band are not a result of the band itself, but from outside sources--inexperienced medical staff who perform fills without appropriate training. Go to our web site and read all of the posts. Take action and stop wasting time " wondering what you should do. " Find some meetings to attend from bariactric sugeons that perform the surgery in your area. All the local hospitals or research it on the web. Make the decision and commit yourself to a healthier life style. It sounds like your problem is in " making the decision. " Only you can decide what is best for you. You won't go wrong wtih the Band and Dr A's team for your medical professionals. Guest guest
Hi ,You have come to the right place for information that is for sure I wanted to tell you a little about me. Sorry everyone who already knows a little about me LOLI'm 32, my BMI was 42 when I decided to have this surgery. While surgery is not an issue for me, I have had lots in the past, my weight was. I needed to stop thinking this was a will power issue and realize that I needed more help to get this weight off. I went to Weight Watchers when I was 30yrs old, I lost almost 50lbs. I did that so that I would be more successful getting pregnant through IVF. I gained about 65lb's of that back during my pregnancy and afterward, when I was nursing. Some people lose while nursing, not me, I thought "I'm hungry, I better eat again!" That really wasn't true, dehydrated from nursing was more like it, but I just wanted to eat all the time. I developed gestational diabetes while I was pregnant. I truly believe, had I been at a healthier weight I would not have had the diabetes, my pancreas would have probably been able to keep up! Ok, so skip forward 2 yrs. Now, I still have 3 frozen embryos and want desperately to be pregnant again. I knew if I had the band, I could 1-lose the weight so I could be healthier for the pregnancy, 2-have an easier time getting pregnant, 3-not gain as much during the pregnancy, 4- have the flexibility that if the baby needs more nutrients I could get an unfill. That is not the case w/bypass. I have a friend at church that had by-pass and then had a "whoops" baby. She struggled through her pregnancy trying to keep the baby nourished and herself. Her baby had lots of problems because of her malnutrition. I just don't want to risk that.Ok, enough about babies. Don't worry about the surgery, it is such a simple procedure. I don't want to downplay surgery but truly, don't let yourself get worked up about that part. I'm like you, I eat ALL the time. Doesn't matter what. When I first got the band, I was concerned that I would be able to eat too much. Well, that is NOT the case. I'm at 1.6cc in my 4cc band and I know I don't have quite enough restriction. This isn't a problem w/the band. It is an issue of me working w/the band to get right where I need it to be. Even w/out "enough" restriction, I still have some. I eat a small amt of food and then I CAN'T eat anymore. I feel like I'm going to lose it if I eat more. That is how you get portion control. When I want to eat because I'm bored I think about the fact that if I eat, I can't have a drink for an hour or so. I realize I actually want a drink worse then the food. It is funny what you can talk yourself into when you want that scale to be down. Don't look at the issues we post here as "problems w/the band", they are our problems that EVERY overweight person has to deal with. Not a defect of the band or this surgery.Do this for yourself, you will NEVER regret it! So many people have said, "I wish I would have done this 20 yrs ago." Don't let yourself be one of those. I'm glad I did it now! Keep us posted on your decision and best of luck! Guest guest
Hi , You sound so much like me and many of the other folks on this board. I have been here since October reading peoples posts. Like you, I wanted to have this surgery for about 5 years now. For medical reasons the by-pass was ruled out for me back in 2003. Since that time I have just given up. Unfortunately, the weight didn't just give up...it kept going, and going. In 2005 the sister of a friend told me about the lap-band. I had never heard of it before. I listened but not hard enough. Last summer one of the "vampires" (those sweeties that take my blood every three weeks come ran or shine) mentioned the lap-band to me. I decided to look into it and have been following this board every since. I desperately want to have the band but am trying to put the money together. I decided on the band for several reasons. 1. Bleeding issues that rule out the by-pass. 2. Quicker recovery. 3. Slower more stable weight loss. 4. Ability to have a fill if weight loss slows. I am sure there are more reasons but these are the ones I can think of right now. I think if you are going to cheat...you are going to cheat no matter which surgery you have. But I think the band allows you to add restriction when you need it. I honestly can't imagine spending the $thousands it costs and then cheating.......... The only thing anyone can do is give their opinion. It really comes down to which you want to contend with. You can always do a pro/con worksheet and see what you come up with. Hope this helps. I have been thinking about the surgery for years now and I keep going back and forth on wanting to have surgery. I try something else with no luck. I am so scary. My aunt calls me Chicken Little. I have never had surgery in my life. I was suppose to get my wisdom teeth taken out but was too scared. I want to have kids some day so I have to get over the being scared of everything state of mind. I do know that I am tired of being fat. I live in Dallas TX and have BCBS. Guest guest
I have no experience whatsoever with Hydrocortisone but from what I have heard and read, goiong up so quickly 5o 50 mgs seems a lot. I have passed your message on to Bella (who is studying like mad at the moment) and see if she can help you as she too is taking hydrocortisone and will be more help than me. Please telephone Dr Peatfield 01474 815793 (FAX is the same number). If he is not in, leave your name and telephone number and tell him your problem in a few words and ask him to call you back. You should have a medical practitioner helping you with this problem and I am not mediclaly qualified. Have you looked at all the information in our Files and in our website? Luv - Sheila Hi all , was wondering if anyone has any expertise to pass on about dosages.I was advised by Dr P to just stay on HC for about four weeks and gradually increase from 35.I did so, but with not much improvement, in fact I developed Hypto symptoms really bad. I decided to try Thyroid again starting last Friday when on 45 HC. Even within 12 hours, I noticed an improvement in the numbness and tingling in my face and the brain fog lifting., however, over the next few days, although tolerable, I got worse Adrenal symptoms in a morning, whilst taking the HC and then I improved about 3-4 pm onwards and have got to say the the Armour is definately doing something, as my head feels a lot better. However, as it was time for a HC increase yesterday I increased to 50, no probs, but today, I had a few wobbly feelings this morning and feelings of loosing balance and this afternoon have not improved . Am I right in thinking I need to get the HC down again and there's too much? I have ringing in my ears, shakiness etc, but I am NOT suffering any hyper symptoms like hot, high temp etc off the Armour. I am going to email Dr P, but am not personally happy with the high level of HC. I wouldn't say I have anymore puffiness than from my HYPo symptoms, but my legs have marks on when I take my socks off and I;'ve hada reflexology session today which has picked up problems with my kidneys. Have quickly can I reduce the HC down to 35 again and should I leave the armour in place or lay off that too until I';ve got it down.?Love to hear from someone who has suffered the problems of getting the dosage right.
