Guest guest
I know several folks that are devoted juicers and they have put their Champion Juicers away for a nutbutter day and have purchased a Breville JE95XL 2 speed juicer. They love it! It has a large feeder shoot so fruits and vegs fit without cutting into small chunks. Whole apples fit. And it seems the pulp is very dry and it is easy to clean. More good news..price is good. You can find this juicer on Ebay (watch shipping) And at http://committed.to/bestdeals This is the juicer I will get, no doubt about it. Sharon.... A real work horse, simnple to use and easy to clean! I have one and have for years and still love it. Good luck! Thank you. Any idea of the cost of this juicer? The site gave prices for replacement parts, but no hint of how much the entire unit would cost. My husband is worrying about fixing our cars and has no interest in anything else that costs money... so I'm pretty sure I won't get anything soon if it costs very much. Guest guest
<<Help! I want to get a juicer and I have no idea which ones are worth it and which ones to avoid. >> I've had various juicers over the years including a Green Power twin gear juicer and loads of centrifigal juicers. First and foremost you must decide what you are going to juice. If you plan on juicing wheatgrass and other greens such as spinach you have to have a twin gear juicer such as Green Power or one of its cheaper models without the many attachments that no one ever uses. If you go to the twin gear, make sure the manufacturer has been in business for at least 5 years and that they stand behind their guarentee. Stay away from the single gear juicer such as Champion because they are not only underpowered but they get out much less juice per ounce of input. Have found that I hate wheatgrass juice and spinach juice isn't much better so have tried centrifigal juicers. Have had Braun, Waring and others and they were all so-so. However, have recently purchased a Breville JE95XL two speed centrifigal and it has out performed anything that I've owned - including the Green Power. It leaves a drier pulp than any including Green Power, is easy to clean and it's ability to juice is absolutely amazing. I can stick 5 good sized carrots into it at one time and it goes through in seconds where the Green Power and other centrifigals require you go one carrot at a time and then they complain. Even the Green Power requires that you cut down the size of large carrots (the main thing I juice) which is time consuming. I can also stick in whole garlic globes and it juices them too. You can also stick in a whole apple and it juices that too, instead of the time consuming job of cutting it up. Get the JE95XL if you get a Breville, not the JE900 which is a Jack Lalanne copy. The two speed motor and the added power are worth every bit of the extra price. Search the Intenet for a reputable Breville dealer. I found one for $150 including shipping before Amazon's lowered the price to the current $130 including shipping, and I don't think you can beat that. I've seen lots of others, though, that's why I was hoping the people here could give me an idea which ones were good and which ones I really shouldn't even think about wasting money on. Your choice in Almond, White, Black or Silver. Just follow the link for more info. By the way I'm not a sales bperson or connected to Champion or this link in any way. Just want to make that clear. I just believe in juicing and the enormous health benefits and I have found that the Champion is the best in my opinion. I hope this helps and besides your husband will never have to work on it. Mine has never had a single problem used properly in over 5 years! What's that worth? And what husband would not want a healthy happy beautiful vibrant wife. Juicing is a very good and healthy thing. Good luck and all the best. > > Rob That sounds pretty good to me, but would probably sound terrible to him, Rob. He likes to work on things. He even came up with a few sewing projects because the sewing machine was a " machine " in his house that he didn't know how to work! He made a couple of great quilts before he was through mastering that machine! " Used Properly " now those are ominous words in my world... Oh, and my husband has given up on the idea of a " healthy happy beautiful vibrant wife " -- he's sure it's a myth created and popularized by advertising companies to break the hearts of men and make them spend more money. How would I go about convincing him that this time it would be true??? Lucinda
Guest guest
Wow, Jay, that's great info! Sounds like I hit the jackpot with you on the order of which ones you like and which ones you hated! I've actually had plenty of success with wheatgrass -- the few times I drank it -- in my blender. I don't mind the extra pulp in that, and boy! did I get a burst of energy! So I don't " have to have " one that will do wheat grass and I doubt I'll be out buying spinach any time soon... though you never know. Last year I wouldn't have believed I'd be wanting a juicer! I like the idea of something that isn't going to require a lot of cutting and coring -- how does it work with onions? I hate cutting onions, but I love the antibacterial properties, the necessary flavor, and all the nutrients in onions. Besides, I just drove past acres and acres of onions being harvested (and more acres, in case you didn't get the idea) so onions are one thing that are really easy to come by (did I mention that my theater group is called the Onion Skin Players??? that's how important onions are to the local economy!) and apples should be ripening soon. We have a huge crop of carrots coming ripe in our garden right about now, too! What about pumpkin? Does anyone here juice pumpkin -- I don't suppose you'd need much more than a taste of it. What foods have the most nutrients and which would I be wasting my time with? I know cucumbers don't have much in the way of nutrition, same with iceberg lettuce.. what else? Wow, you've really got me busy thinking now! Thanks! Luci > <<Help!
