Guest guest
Hi Gallstones, , > Other than coming from seseme seeds and being a source of magnesium, can anyone tell me more > about tahini? Can I find it anywhere besides a health food store? Hi , Definitely. Middle eastern store, especially, such as Israeli, Lebanese, etc. Supermarkets, too, in many areas. I would not say it is an item that necessarily needs health food store, unless you want to get organically grown sesame. I would be more concerned with simply liking the particular brand, so that it becomes a staple food. Myself, I am moving toward a fresher, refrigerated supermarket brand, sold next to the hummous :-), and away from jars or other containers. > I take it that it somewhat replaces milk in some recipies? What else does it supply as far as > nutrients? Whatever sesame supplies :-) You can probably find that on the net, sorry I don't have it handy. Also can't help you on the milk-substitution, you might be thinking of a soy milk product. Quite nutritious, though. btw, although some think this flakey, bananas taste great soaked in tahini, or you can use it as a dressing type item, you don't have to use bread as a medium.
