Canyon Lake residents Stan and e and the Arthritis

Foundation Inland Empire are proud to announce the 7th Annual Celebrity Golf

Tournament will be held Friday, April 21, at Menifee Lakes Country Club.

Kreg McCoy, of Coldwell Bankers Associated Brokers Reality, immediately

stepped forward as one of this year's presenting sponsors with a $5,000

donation. Lennar Homes also offered to be a presenting sponsor again this

year, due to the efforts of Marketing Manager Myers, '

aunt. A tentative list of celebrities includes Willie Buchanon, Tom ,

Jim Mora, McGrath, Jeff Emig, to name a few.

" Over the past seven years, many of our friends and family have helped

support this tournament as well as other events, giving generous donations

and volunteering their time, " says Stan. " We are very thankful for all their

efforts and the support we have received - because of them we have seen the

advances of new medication to treat arthritis and progress through research

for our son . "

With money raised for the Arthritis Foundation, a 501©3 non-profit,

the organization hopes to find a cure for a disease that affects over 66

million Americans and has an annual price tag of $86.2 billion, according to

Stan. In the Inland Empire, there are more than 1.3 million residents

afflicted by arthritis, which includes 3,000 children. More children suffer

from arthritis than juvenile diabetes, muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis

and cerebral palsy combined. Arthritis is the number one cause of disability

in America. One in three people suffer from one of more than 100 forms of

arthritis.

" is now nine years old and a 3rd grader at Cottonwood Elementary

School, " says e. " He is doing well and we have been able to keep him

off all medications except Enbrel. Enbrel is an injection I give him weekly.

He has done so well and we have seen such an improvement, he has become an

ambassador for Enbrel. He has been featured on the company's annual calendar

and was recently featured in its promotional brochure, which is distributed

nationwide to health care professionals. He will also be featured on the

company website www.enbrel.com soon, having just completed an interview

update.

" 's health is for the most part good, though he still

occasionally wakes up in the morning or goes to bed with neck pain and hip

pain, " e continues. " He has unfortunately developed another condition

called Avascular Necrosis, which is basically loss of blood supply to the

bone. This is affecting his hip and is most likely the result of many years

on steroids needed to control his arthritis. He is watched by doctors at

Children's Hospital San Diego and is checked every three months to see the

progression of this disease. It appears inevitable that he will have a hip

surgery and it is our goal to prolong it as much as possible to limit the

amount he will have to have over his lifetime, as he is still a growing

child.

" Fortunately, we got some good news this week, " e adds. " We took

for his regular checkup at Children's and his doctor did not see any

reason to do surgery at this time. Although he is still on watch every three

to four months, he has been released to play baseball - which made so

happy. We are hoping we'll be able to get him onto a Little League team here

in Canyon Lake. "

Stan is still actively involved in the Arthritis Foundation serving on

the Board of Directors, having raised approximately $500,000 over the seven

plus years he has been volunteering.

e is the former owner of e's Scrapbooks & More, but sold

the business in November to pursue a career in real estate with Coldwell

Bankers Associated Brokers Reality in Canyon Lake.

The Celebrity Tournament

The tournament will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with scramble format

and boxed lunch. A dinner awards banquet and silent auction will follow the

tournament at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $150 per person and $600 per foursome.

Residents and business owners are still welcome to become Tee Sponsors for a

donation of $150. Entry forms and information can be obtained by calling the

Arthritis Foundation at 951-320-1540.
