Guest guest
Hi, Traci: I stopped my attacks, some of them anyway, taking some epsom salts. But since you're nursing your baby, I don't think that I'd do that at all unless you find someone that says it's okay. I surely wouldn't want to give the baby diarrhea and seriously upset their system. If you're in extreme pain, though, and your GB is serious, you may have to consider not nursing until you get it under control and at that time, you may have to rely upon pain medicine. I'm not against fighting pain with medicine. When someone is having severe GB pains, it definitely has its place in helping a person stay sane and relieve their suffering. Here is what I have to tell others, though, about pain medicine, and it's if they are pregnant. I realize that you're nursing. And I hope others don't take me wrong. My daughter was in the hospital in the end of January with severe pain. She was in screaming pain, but it didn't have to do with her gallbladder. She was pregnant, still is and is due any day now. Her pain was just horrible, she was screaming in agony. Well, they had to give her Demerol to calm her pain down. She's allergic to morphine. Anyway, the doctor told us that if you're pregnant, some pain medication absolutely does not hurt you. What hurts you on pain medicine if you're pregnant is taking it over an extended period of time, which she did not. For example, she would have to have had pain medicine every day for weeks before it hurt the baby. But what could have hurt her worse at that time was not being able to get enough oxygen in because of her severe pain, because you don't breathe correctly when you're in extreme, severe pain, therefore, you can seriously hurt the baby more, it can even kill the baby. Her problem wasn't her GB. It turned out to be gastritis. Well, I just wanted to make that statement. Others on this board have had the extreme pain of a GB attack, even though they are trying to eat a healthy diet, sometimes things don't go right for them. It just happens when the GB gets too bad. I was in that category. But I did manage to save my GB for several years though diet and cleansing. I am thankful for that. Susie
Guest guest
hi, never take apple cider vinegar. it increase acidity to a very high level. i took apple cider vinegar once and every two days i had severe attack. my friend has no gb but when he eats soar or drink soar immediately there is pain due to acidity. good Traci <tracic@...> wrote: OK, so if I have another attack is there any way to stop it? Anyway, I’d love to hear if there is any way to stop an attack once it has started. Thanks, Traci
Guest guest
>>>Epsom salts mixed with either water or grapefruit juice will help relax the bile ducts so that the stone can pass. Many people have tried this and have said it helps. <<< Hi Traci, Great tip from G Murray!!! It was one I used when I was suffering from repeated attacks, last spring, and it really works! I would take 1 tablespoon of epsoms in a glass of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice or water at the onset of an attack. Within 20 mins the pain abated and there is the added benefit of clearing any colon/bowel clogging (which exacerbates attacks). This is a fast, bandaid fix, however, and not a substitute for a full flush. Also, very important to drink lots of fresh, clean water so you don't get dehydrated and keep your bowels moving, especially when breastfeeding and constipation runs rampant. The other tips that everyone offered are great, too, like deep meditative breathing and castor oil packs. An easy way to flush daily is to eat a whole avocado (full of good fat), halved, with an olive oil/balsamic vinegar and garlic dressing on an empty stomach. I've had spontaneous, quite unexpected results doing this and passed gravel and small stones and adding the fresh pressed garlic is a cheap, inexpensive parasite cleanse. Do this every day for a few weeks and you may find you start to feel noticeably better....worked for me, anyway! )) Sure hope you don't mind me adding my two cents to the discussion...I breastfed both my kids for 10 months and discovered the miracle of purchasing a pump from the pharmacy and expressing milk in the early morning, when I had an abundance, was a great way to build a stock of frozen milk for the baby when I was pooped later in the day and my hubby or someone else could take over. Doing this has many benefits apart from this....the more milk you express, in addition to feeding the baby, the more you make, being a supply and demand situation and you don't have to resort to formula. You can also leave the baby to go out shopping or whatever, knowing the baby-sitter has something to give the baby, giving you a break. Also, when you're having an attack, you can just draw from your frozen, sterile stock and still use the epsoms without harm to the baby. It gets the baby used to bottle-feeding to give you a break and they don't fuss as much, later, when you're weaning. On days when you use the epsoms remedy, you could then continue expressing at normal feed times, throwing the epsoms-tainted milk away. Guest guest
Hi Traci, >>>What made your attacks go away?<<< Well, ultimately, flushing, careful adherence to diet and regular exercise did the trick for me and I continue with this today, a year later, and will be a lifetime practice. The epsoms and grapefruit only relieved attacks temporarily, until I was ready to flush. >>>Did you do the cleanses?<<< Yes. I have used the flush recommended at the Global Healing site and it has worked for me. http://www.ghchealth.com/liver-and-gallbladder-flush.html >>> Have you ever had an ultrasound?<<< No, but I knew I had gall bladder issues from my symptoms and because they run in the family...I also fit the profile of the 4 Fs (have been " fat " in my time with excess weight from pregnancies, fertile, meaning I have had children, female and in my 40s). The symptoms were, bloating and constant nagging pain under right ribcage (relieved by removing underwires from bras which block meridians, as wisely advised by in Atlanta - it works!). Also, a lot of pain in the mid-back region, acid reflux and almost daily, recurring biliary attacks that came in stabbing, crushing waves an hour or so, or sometimes immediately, after eating. This was all relieved by a gentle regime of exercise, self-reiki, meditation and breathing, drinking lots of water and careful diet, as well as flushing. For me, it was like a miracle had occurred and I knew I didn't want to have my GB out, so was willing to take any action possible to avoid recourse to that. It's a gradual learning process and I gathered what info resonated with me from this site, Curezone, and other sites, as well as learning to recognize my trigger foods and avoiding those. >>>Sorry for all the questions...I'm new to this and trying to learn all I can. I'm frightened of food at this point, I sure wish I knew what to eat and what not to eat.<<< No worries about that. Everyone here is so supportive of eachother and we make replies, if there is anything we can reply to that is within the realm of our personal experience. So, ask away! As for the diet thing, I started out by going gently on the fats, cutting out all hydrogenated and saturated fats and only eating the good ones, like mono and poly-unsaturated fats and Omega 3s. You have to become a label reader - this worked for me. You can do a search for lists of good fats, online, and start there. Also, lots of fresh, organic fruits and veggies. When shopping for food, stick to the outside aisles and avoid anything processed. My holistic doctor said, " If Washington didn't eat it, then we shouldn't either " . I understand your feelings on the breast pump idea. If this helps and you change your mind in desperation, I would get up in the morning, an hour before the rest of the family (ugh!), and express then. I would get one or two full bottles and still have enough to feed the baby when she awoke in the am. If you're in terrible pain with attacks before you can try a full flush, it may be a way to keep your sanity, even if leaving you a bit tired from lack of sleep. All the very best, Traci. I sincerely empathize, but if you hang around here for a while, you will definitely pick up some useful diet tips to try out. Guest guest
This works for me: One 12oz Glass of Water Sometimes I need two glasses. I just get it from the sink. It's cheap, readily available and very easy to remember. Nothing to buy on-line! Once I figured this out, it has worked every time for me. After that, it might be best to remember what you ate that day. Any fatty foods? Date: Tue, 24 May 2005 19:25:42 -0400 From: " Traci " <tracic@...> Subject: Can I stop at attack? Guest guest
What made your attacks go away? I've changed my diet tremendously, so I am hoping that helps. I love avocadoes so I will have to try that. I do have an electric pump but I've never found enough time in a day to nurse and pump. I have 4 children (12yr, 3yr, 15 months, and 3 months) and I homeschool, so when the baby isn't nursing I'm always busy with someone, so pumping isn't so easy around here. I don't mind you adding that though, no problem just no do-able here. I usually don't ever give mine bottles, and I'm fine with that. I just hope I can get through these attacks, or heck it would be nice never to have another one. Did you do the cleanses? Have you ever had an ultrasound? Curious to know if anyone has had an ultrasound before cleansing and then an ultrasound after a few cleanses? What were the results? Sorry for all the questions...I'm new to this and trying to learn all I can. I'm frightened of food at this point, I sure wish I knew what to eat and what not to eat. Like everything else, I think it depends on individual. I'm started using a bit in water last fall for indigestion (to increase production of hydrochloric) and it worked for that. And yes, that IS when I started feeling these weird pings I now know were gall stones passing, so I think it did start loosening them up. Then I went on Xmas high fat splurge, went insane on ice cream, milk and yogurt one weekend and had first attack. Anyway, since then do just a 1/4 tsp in water every few days -- or on occassion when over eat -- hoping it will continue to help dissolve them. but haven't noticed any particular pain. So everyone is different. Still haven't had nerve to do a flush... and have been slipping back into back habits somewhat, except hardly any milk or yogurt now and MUCH LESS ice cream (my roommate keeps buying the good stuff and doesn't care if I eat it, so temptation is too great.) So have a little bit of pain chronically I have to concentrate on eliminating. Unfortunately I have a rather high pain tolerance... :-( Now that it is getting warm and my body isn't yelling for soups and stews, hopefully can clean out good with lots of raw veggies, espon salts (baths are great for poison ivy recently discovered after chased the dog into a patch and got scratched by it) and then try the mild flush over a week or so....
