Guest guest
OK so my mom went to the DR today to have an ultrasound on her gallbladder. The lady was nice enough to let my mom see it and try to explain things to her so she didn't have to wait for her DR. First let me say that my mom has had pain in her right side for years and years..she said she hasn't had a really painful episode in about 4 yrs though (since she had a type of chemo treatment for hepatitis and at that time she thought things were passing in her bowel movements but she didn't know what it was). Anyway, the ultrasound technician said that the gallbladder is only the size of a golf ball. Is this true? She also said that my mom had 1 stone and that it was HUGE, she emphasized HUGE but it was only the size of a green pea. Is that big? Also why would her gallbladder hurt, sore to the touch all the time if she only had 1 gallstone? She also thinks the woman said it was calcified..can you see calcified stones on an ultrasound? I know this lady is not a DR, but can you always see gallstones on an ultrasound, please let me know! My mom is in the middle of a cleanse right now, but it seems a little frustrating to have this pain with no end in sight. AT least before when we thought she may have tons of stones like I have that when she did cleanses to get rid of them that her pain would get better. Also, I don't know how big my stones are but the tech said that I have LOTS of tiny stones. My mom's ultrasound tech acted like stones are the size of sand??? That doesn't sound right to me? What do you all think? Does all this sound just not quite right? I'm thinking how could they be the size of sand, I would think they would come out easily and wouldn't even be stuck in there if they were the size of sand??? Desperate for information, please anyone, can you offer and insight?! Traci
Guest guest
In addition to the suggestions listed, there are 3 other possibilities that come to mind. First, is he getting a molar, or could he be having some type of dental problem? Another cause of chewing for some kids is yeast overgrowth. A good number of our kids develop yeast which can cause many different types of behaviors. For my grandson, however, chewing on toys (usually hard rubbery toys) and on clothing meant he was low on zinc. We finally purchased zinc in a cream form to supplement the liquid (we get ours through Lee- Silsby Pharmacy). He is not great at taking his supplements so he often doesn't get the amount of zinc he needs without the additional cream. A good source of information can be found on " Dana's View " ... just type in " search " and the first link will bring you there. Dana has recovered her children who were all on the spectrum. She has a lot of great ideas and resources. You may want to check it out. Also, another good source for ASD related supplements from Lee- Silsby is www.ourkidsasd.com. Good Luck! I know how annoying this new habit can be. Hope you find the right solution for Kiernan. BTW, I love his name!!! -Trish > > Kiernan has developed a new habit... whenever he is wearing any sort > of drawstring pants, long sleeve shirts or even his backpacks.. he's > chewing on them.. he chews the drawstrings (which we have now removed > all of them) chews on his right sleeve (for some reason it's never the > left) and the hanging straps from his backpack...
