gallstones

Subject: Bragg

I was thinking of reading a book by Bragg, but he has lots of

them. Can someone suggest the best one or two books by this

author?

Tina,

I have done some fasts lasting 3 to 5 days. Lately I do fruit and water

fasts. The first day is the hardest,. I feel great and a lot lighter. Physical

ills like aches and pains, heart palpatations, you get clearer thinking, things

like that are alleviated. Just do your homework with the fasting protocol and

get lots of fluids (water/apple juice mainly) and if you have a health

problem or are on medication you will want to check with your doc first.

Best of health,

Jeanne

HI Tina,

I avoid fasting because i believe it causes

gallstones.

The gallbladder neeeds to be stimulated on a regular

basis in order to empty out it's contents.

the women in my family on my mother's side are

underweight due to fasting for religious purposes and

my aunt who fasts developed gallstones, the only

logical explanation.

I also due to my vegan diet and frequent believed it

caused me to develop gallstones.

I've never read anywhere that fasting causes gallstones. Actually, it

gives the body a break from all of it's work of digesting food.

Your family members would have gotten gallstones from eating sweets, not

exercising, stress, poor diet. Read up about the causes.

Namaste,

cathy

Personally, I started having gallbladder pain (eventually had it removed) when I

was on an intestinal cleanse and fasting. I suspect now that my gallbladder

already was not working very well even before the fast, but the fast was the

" last straw " . The surgeon said my gallbladder was full of sludge (no sizeable

stones noted). I recall reading quite a few emails (don't recall which

group) from folks who started having gallbladder pain when they were fasting or

dieting.

So does fasting cause gallstones and/or sludge? Maybe. Or maybe a

malfunctioning liver/gallbladder came first and just got worse during the fast.

It seems there is no one answer for everybody. Some people seem to feel great

from fasting. Others, like me, got a lot, lot worse!
