I am so confused and scared so please help if you can. My daughter is

6. Here is what has been going on. 6 weeks ago my daughter started

complaining of her knee hurting when she woke up. At first I thought

she was full of it because she wanted me to carry her into the living

room (she isn't a morning person) well after 3 days of this, I put

her down and told her to walk and to my suprise she limped. This

continued for about a week, I only noticed this in the morning. Then

it was swollen all of a sudden. I iced it and elevated it but no

decrease in swelling. I took her to her ped. and he could feel fluid

ect but Xray showed no signs of injury. So he had me do Ibuprofen 3

times a day for 10 days. This didn't help. She was still limping and

complaining of pain every morning. Never once did I hear her complain

during the day or night. He then had me start Naprosyn (Naproxen)

twice a day. She has been on this for 5 days and the swelling is

actually going down. But she is still hurting every morning. If this

was JRA could the swelling come and go like that?

We have a strong family history of Rheumatoid Arthritis so I know a

little about it but not in kids. She is scheduled to see a childrens

specialist next week but I'm confused. Also about a year ago she

complained of her hip (left) hurting a LOT. It wasn't always in the

mornings but lasted about 6 months. I'd say three times a week or so.

Could that have been related to what we are deaing with here? OR has

it been too long (a year in between) to be related?

I'm sooo confused and scared. The Dr. did an ANA test and said it was

Neg but can she still have JRA? Thanks from a scared mama
