Guest guest
I have to wonder if this is what I have and not just a Gall Bladder problem. Since my blood sugar is screwy. What test would they have to run on me to tell the difference, can the ultrasound they have ordered for my digestive system show this. The test will cover the liver, gall bladder, and pancreas. Can the Gall bladder cause the pancreatitis or vice versa. Can the pancreatitis screw up my blood sugar, and will it get better when my gall bladder is better. Guest guest
Hello , It feels good to be able to answer someone's question and help them instead of just begging for help for myself. First let me assure you that you do NOT have acute pancreatitis. You'd be literally doubled over in pain, panting like a dog because you can't breath deeply at all, and barely able to speak. But, is something wrong with your pancreas? I don't know. As for the sugar levels, I don't know because they never checked mine as far as I know (I was " nothing by mouth " and on IV fluids and I don't have a history of diabetes so I guess they didn't check the sugar). The tests they did on me were: the first day - an ultra sound, and a blood test. They then did the blood test daily. The blood test confirmed the pancreatitis. They check for 2 different #'s for things called Amalaise (I *think* that's the way it's spelled --- it's pronounced Am-uh-lays) and Lipase (pronounced Lie-pays). They told me a couple of days into it that it was really the Lipase they were keeping a closer watch on. The " normal " range for each hopspital\facility can be different, but they wanted my Lipase # to be down to 210 or less before they'd let me eat. Last Saturday (a week ago yesterday) my Lipase was 3,300. But after proper treatment, it dropped drastically each day, until the last couple of days which took longer to get on down. The next day (Sunday) it was 1,700. Mon., 1,023. Tue., 523. But ..... Wed. it only came from 523 the day before, down to 459. That was the day I signed the AMA (against medical advice) form and came home to Tennessee. (I " conveniently " left that part out until now so y'all won't think I'm a total nut. I promise, I'm not. It's about money). Hope I've helped, and I wish you the best. Mark > I have to wonder if this is what I have and not just a Gall Bladder > problem. Since my blood sugar is screwy. Guest guest
Well mark they ran a lipase and amalase test on me. They have a different numbers system at the clinic I go to. The range for amylase is 21-101, I was a 44. The range for Lipase is 7-60, I was a 24. I don't know why their reference was different from yours. I am not working so the only thing I can do is go to the clinic for now. They gave me a digestive enzyme called Pancrelipase 10,000 to take once a day to take for 30 days, and it helps. I don't know if that is something they give to people with pancreatitis. They didn't tell me. Well I am better from when I first joined the group. When I joined I was having some sort of idugestion attacks, which almost made me pass out. I would actually have to sit down to not pass out. My stomach was unnreal, the pain, bloating. It wa slike I couldnt digest certain foods. I couldnt figure out what was causing it. I went to the curezone to look up my symptoms and found this group. I believe they are the only reason I am not in the hospital. Since I joined, I have avoided the trigger food...eggs, mayonnaise, dairy...and I am doing better. I have also added the good foods they have advised me to do. But I was also doubled over and curled up in bed but the was no severe pain, I just was so weak. I had half a slice of american cheese a few nights ago, and wish I was dead. There is a sharp pain in my side and back, and really bad bloat and indigestion. I will be doing an epsom salt drink tonight to help. I don't know why my enzyme count has a different number system than yours. I do not have the money to go to an endocronologist. So I will have to try to slowly correct this. Isnt there a clinic in your area that could help you. Mine is helping me best they can till I can work again and go to a specialist. Let me know. I think what you have is serious and you should try to at least find a clinic near you or a little ways away. It would be worth it. The group here is so great and very helpful. So ask away. I don't have insurance so I have no choice but to be patient. Good luck and let me know. > > > Hello , > > It feels good to be able to answer someone's question and help them > instead of just begging for help for myself. > > First let me assure you that you do NOT have acute pancreatitis. > You'd be literally doubled over in pain, panting like a dog because > you can't breath deeply at all, and barely able to speak. Guest guest
When I was having gall bladder pain, I also had pain on my left side. Now I have a twinge of pain in my gall bladder, but more pronounced on my left. Wondering if I should do some more bloodwork? ----- Original Message ----- From: Suzanne gallstones Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2005 9:41 AM Subject: Re: pancreatitis What do you attribute the pain on the left side to and why?
