I keep hearing that the antibiotics are expensive. My husband is about to

start the AP. I thought antibiotics were LESS expensive than the

conventional drugs (Plaquenil, Methotrexate). Am I wrong on this? Can

someone give me an estimate or idea on the expected cost of oral

antibiotics? Any help on getting these at a cost savings would be greatly

appreciated.

Kim - husband has dermatomyositis.

rheumatic also...

....does anyone know of a good source for prescription drugs online from

Canada? I have been reading about these online pharmacies - here in the

US meds are expensive.

Thanks

....I am looking specifically for Celebrex, which is expensive - but it's

a newer type NSAID. I assume that many of the older and/or conventional

drugs are cheap. I recently paid $900 for Lederle brand minocin, the palletized

type, ( maybe a years supply) there are cheaper forms available, but I

wanted to use exactly what Dr. Brown suggested. However lots of people

use the generic brands and do well - i.e., Doxycycline is inexpensive.

Contact all of your local pharmacies, their costs can vary widely. Find out

from each what quantities are best discounted and what the best prices are.

Here we commonly see price swings of 75% between pharmacies, and just

because Pharmacy A has a good price on one drug, does NOT mean they have the

best price on another.

Locally (CA) Costco had the best price on Doxycycline, and the least

expensive price per pill turned out to be in a quantity of 6 months worth.

There was no price break after that.

I'd suggest trying herbal RheuMax instead of Celebrex, Vioxx, Prednisone or

other such drugs, for better efficacy, lower risk and lower cost. (Available

at our nonprofit, http://www.healingyou.org.) It usually works within 72

hrs to 2 weeks at the most. However, if you are determined to take

Celebrex, there are several online sources including KwikMed

Until California passed a law on humane treatment of humans I would have as

soon died to escape the pain. It is sick when a little opiate pill can stop

the pain for 6 hours. So I understand your fear and I wish you the best and the

courage to tell your doctor you are in screaming pain if you are and if that

does not work go to the emergency room and tell them and keep telling people

until they fix it. There are many compassionate doctors in the world and there

are many sadists as well. You want the compassionate kind who does not want

you to experience pain, and to get a well as you can.

I think you missed my previous post. Here it is

I recently had my annual check with blood work done. It came back that

I had a High ESR rate or Sedimentation Rate. Does anyone know what

this is? Also my cholesterol was a bit high. Does anyone know how I

can bring these figures down? I think I'm eating pretty well, most the

things the doctor said to do, I was already doing.

Would having gallstones make my sed rate high?

I did, the way the e-mails come in I need to start at the bottom most of the

time and work up. Sorry, I am clueless to a sedimentation rate. I would

assume (maybe not a good idea) that they are talking about the precipitation

out of solution of cholesterol (wonder how they would measure that). If so,

definitely yes to stones effecting that. -Dave

+++Hi Rick. No, that wouldn't cause any problem at all, and sea salt

is better.
