Hi Anne, Loved your email! Your words reminded me of what Einstein once said, " A problem cannot be solved at the same level at which it was created, " and I think it was anne WIlliamson (correct me, if I'm wrong) who embellished this with " Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions " . So, if we lead a life of compulsive, unconscious eating and imbibing, it's probably equally as destructive to resolve it with it's polaric opposite. Kind of like treating the body like a punching bag, swinging to the extremes. What I've gathered from the wise folk here and from my own trainings is that a gentle holistic approach is best, incorporating mind-body-spirit approaches to healing. I'm a reiki and sadja master (tuning fork therapy) and, while energy work, in whatever form it is applied, goes a long way towards healing the body, it's also true that a person must choose to be awake to taking personal responsibility for their own healing. Coming to a group like this where this is so much information to absorb literally forces you to look at it all and take what resonates for yourself to begin a healing regimen. It's a wonderful first step to empowering yourself to listen to your own inner wisdom. So, for me, I know it's so important that you've brought this up, Anne. Mikao Usui, the man who brought back the ancient Tibetan healing art of reiki, shared a great story about this with his students and it's still a fundamental teaching in reiki today. After rediscovering this healing artform, he went back to Japan and the first person he offered a healing to was a street beggar. Shortly thereafter, the beggar managed to turn his life around, became successful in work, got married and had a family. Several years later, Usui was shocked to see this man on the street in rags and begging, again, and asked him what had happened. The man explained that he just couldn't take the pressures of a successful life. The moral of Usui's story being that energy healing work always goes to where it is needed for healing, but a person has to be an open and willing participant to the process, taking full responsibility for their life, on all levels, for energy work to have optimal effect. So, I hope you don't mind me adding that energy work, just like physical cleansing and diet, while being a great addition to a holistic approach to healing, it does require a willing openness to participate by taking responsibility on all the other levels, too - ie. the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. In other words, to love and honor yourself as much as possible!!!! Peace, n
