Excellent advice from Dr. Mercola. Nothing to lose by throwing a ball around,

anyway. This is understandable since gallbladder necrosis is due

to arterial thrombosis of one of the arteries which

terminates at the gallbladder.

As to probiotics, I've just about spent my last dime on supplements, so maybe

yoghourt would do?

Subject: Dr. Mercola - exercise can help improve the gall bladder

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well. I read on Dr. Mercola's

site that an agressive cardiovascular exercise program can help

improve the gall bladder. Has anyone had luck with this?

Here's one of his. He's got a lot of other good stuff on his site -

Hi Randi

The article does not mention " aggessive " exercise...

It says exercise is a good PREVENTATIVE " measure

BEFORE you have gallbladder problems.

Ofcourse everyone can benefit from regular exercise

so it certainly cannot hurt

Hello. Under where it says, " Treatment Methods " , the second paragraph

says:

" At that time a gallbladder flush may provide some relief and once the

symptoms abate an aggressive cardiovascular exercise program can serve

to permanently improve the gallbladder. "

I guess he means that once all the symptoms and pain are relieved, an

exercise program can help the gall bladder function better somehow.

Maybe exercise affects the hormones, which then affects gb function.

Also, maybe it helps blood circulation, which might help a sluggish gb

to work better? I don't know, but I was wondering if anyone had

success with revering gb problems with exercise. If you have any info

or know anyone who has, it would be great to know about. Thanks!!

Can you tell us, in what terms do you measure your success here.

Also, how long did you have gallbladder attacks before starting the exercise

regimen,

and now that you have some success, does this success mean that you can now eat

anything, including dairy products, ice cream, etc., at any time of the day

or night, without fear of attacks and without attacks.

If you had " permanent " changes in the gallbladder (fibrosis and necrosis), but

can

now digest and metabolize these items as you did before these changes

occurred, then you really do have VERY good success. It means these

changes have been at least partially reversed - which doctors say is

" impossible " . If you can't, then we have to keep looking for something

that will reverse them.

I think exercise can help to a certain degree and I think it, along with other

lifestyle issues, is more of a prevention than cure. However, I would run to

reduce the severity of my attacks but I was never able to stop the attacks

entirely or get rid of the gallstones through exercise. Diet didn't stop the

attacks entirely either. A flush without the Chinese herbs helped some, but my

personal jury's still out on Chinese herbs although I have a good gut feeling

about them because they stopped my attacks within two days of starting them. I

tend to get my worst attacks in the spring and I only started on the herbs (the

herbs from sensiblehealth.com) just a couple of months ago. This spring (March

2006) will be key for me because my attacks have been bad this time of year for

decades.

Well I don't really have full blown attacks because I have very big stones so

they can't get out I just have a very bad dull ache. But I have found the

exercise tones up my intestines and everything moves through...somehow those

things together have made me not have pain. I don't think I could have full fat

dairy products first thing in the morning that tends to be when my GB is the

most sensitive. I always try to eat or drink something first thing that flushes

the bowel. Anyway this has worked for me so far. I can even go off track for a

week or so. But the pain will resurface if I don't do those 2 things.

Hi Randy

Thanks for that clarification

I did not see that-bit of info-on aggressive exercise..

-sorry......

but very interesting.....

I will def. try it after I do my first flush...

I have always exercised daily but I notice right now I

cannot exercise with quite the same stamina

as I once did (before the GB probs)

but I look fwd to giving it a try when

my condition improves a little bit more!

Luckily with the help of this board and other info

I am really seeing a little bit of improvement every day!

(my big health offense was diet-too much sugar )

luck to all,

Lori

Hi Lori. Thanks for writing. I appreciate your letting me know you

exercised daily. This is because I often beat myself up for not

having exercised and letting myself gain 25 pounds. Please don't

get me wrong...I'm not glad that you have gb problems...it's just

that it makes me feel a little better to know they can happen to

people who exercise too. GB problems are hard enought to deal with,

but when you think it's your fault, it makes it even harder.

Also, about sugar - I completely understand you. I always loved

it...still do... but I realize it's like a drug... feels good for

them moment, but can hurt you later. I think moderation is key.

Good luck and I hope you will feel better. This is a great

site...the doctors should only as much as the folks here do!!!

All the best to you, Randi
