Guest guest
Donna, It is 2pm here and just woke up and had to take Gidget out to use the bathroom. looked at me in her gown and said Ma how cold is it out there? I said well step outside and find out lolololol. said hey now I am in just my gown and like a Mom I said well it is Gidget who has to go out no matter what lolol Ok I gave in when she said Ma can you take her out since your already dressed? lolol Gidget was holding back on the Leash and really did not want to go out. I took her on out with her little feet on that snow and Ice so she went to a sunny spot and went and high tailed it to the door lololol She did not run she kinda hopped on odd legs hoping not to touch the Ice lololol. I got to laughing and told well you better be so Glad we have inside plumbing now as it would be you and Gidget heading out together to the Out House lololololol. I could just see and Gidget trying that as Gidget would run and would be so slow lololol Gidget would get there and back before got half way to the Outhouse lololol. Guest guest
we woke up this morning to a temp of -11, wind chill was somewhere in the -30's. Hannah has been really tired the last 2 days and has had her knees and wrists are acting up. I bought some of those new heat wraps for hands and she loves them! We are building a fire in the fireplace as I type and will settle in for the football games today...Go Pack! Sending prayers & happy thoughts, Beth :-) OT/Brutal Cold weather Hi Everyone, I am in the South and was wondering about the Affects of this Brutal Cold front which has pushed to the Deep South. Guest guest
Hi Gang, We've been between 74 and 76 degrees F. Beautiful sunshiny day, on this little tropical island. Kayla and friends are on their way to the beach. I spent far too many years in the blustery cold winters of the North-East. Don't miss it at all! I know everybody says the snow looks so pretty and all and some talk about how they'd miss the seasonal changes. Well, we've got seasonal changes too. It rains sometimes, in the winter. Nope. The cold is just not for me. Life seems so much simpler and more pleasant when the climate is mild throughout the year. I LOVE the warm winters and mild summers of the islands. Sending warm thoughts ... Georgina Re: OT/Brutal Cold weather it was 7 here this am with -6 windchill. It is horrible and yes it is affecting me. Guest guest
Cynde, The Weather can play a roll with Arthritis Flares. I have 2 Sister's who can tell you that. Then well she can tell me about the Weather better than the Weatherman. lolololol. If the weather stayed one way Cold the flares would do better. Or if the weather stayed warm. But the Ups and Downs of Low and High Fronts will get to the Bone. Damp weather will cause to flare worse. But the Dry air can cause a Issue if the temps are up and down. The Temps here in Georgia will go from 17 tonight to 40 tomorrow and then by Tuesday it will be rainy and 50 Degrees. Change in the weather like this is what happens in the winter so Winter was the worse time for . Rainy seasons are to but since we are in a Drought down here Rain is something we wish for. Weather can play a role with Migraines as well. Robbin **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Well I do believe it is about this time of the year every single year that I am about ready to pack up and move WARM. I do not like the stinkin cold. I am tired of this stuff. But I am pretty sure that I will probably never move away from here. With five kids, three grandbabies and a fourth on the way I will probably stay close to here.? This cold sure is playing havoc with Jaye's joints though. The up and down is the worst part of it. When it just stays cold she seems to get better for a bit but as soon as it changes even for the warmer she has problems. I am ready for spring though. No matter what changes we have here it seems to bother her so I am thinking that at least we ought to be happy and be able to get outside and go for a nice walk. Guest guest
Can anyone tell me if your kiddos are better when summer comes?? I am wondering if the heat makes a flair too? I am in the California Sierra mountains and it gets cold here but no where near the cold some of you are feeling. It gets to the high 30s during the day on a cold day and down to 19 or so at night is the lowest. Sometimes it can be in the 60s in the winter but not usually. Summers are hot90/103 with NO rain all summer. No humidity tho. flower Re: OT/Brutal Cold weather Georgina, Ok I am going to open my back door and send some cooler air your way sweetie :-) Robbin lololol **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
I have determined that the cold, the warm, the nice, the every type of weather makes a flare. Some seem to have more difficulty certain times I think. So far I have noticed with my daughter that the change is what seems to cause her the biggest trouble. Going from summer to fall has been the worst for her but she seems to get settled with the cold and doing good and then when it changes to warm again she has problems. I am sure just like everything else every one is different and they react to everything in their own way. I pray for and expect Jaye to feel good every single day no matter what the weather gives us. I believe in having a positive attitude and try to show that to my kids so that they will not expect the worst.? Guest guest
Great ida Vera! God wants us to pray expecting him to answer. I have arthritis too but no dx of ra. The weather changes are what bothers me the most too. This week when our little grandaughter had a prob..it had been warmer and it turned cold. I will watch for this pattern. thanks for answering me! hugs,Cynde aka Flower Re: OT/Brutal Cold weather Georgina, Ok I am going to open my back door and send some cooler air your way sweetie :-) Robbin lololol **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Thanks Robbin..sounds like me...I can always tell when the barimetric pressure is changing. My hubby always laughs cause I am like the weatherman. I have OA and have always thought I have something else although my RA and ANA are always neg. I have abnormal spinal fluid in the pattern of ms but no leisons and not progressive. Sometimes I wonder if we find out the dx of our grandaughter..maybe I will get a dx at the same time..who knows?? Since we live in the High Sierra's of Calif..the weather changes here often and fast. The storms get sucked up here in the mountains. Anni looked great in the summer. We took a picture with us to the doctors at Children's so they could see how different she looked! Don't know if you know her story?? Anni is her name and my daughter is Aly. Guest guest
Does the joint swelling always get worse during a flare? How does the other sx of systemic ie..heart etc show up? With this fever how does one know if it is causeing inflammation somewehere that you can't see..especially if she is not feeling well? Guest guest
Hi - since rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune disorder, anything that triggers the immune system an trigger a flare.? Some of my son's worst flares have been in the spring or summer.? I'm not saying that the winter cold doesn't have an affect - will experience come pain and stiffness (particularly worse in the mornings) when the weather is more cold or damp - some research shows that the barometric pressure plays a part as well in the arthritic symptoms - but a true flare, from our experience has nothing to do with the weather.
