Guest guest
Hi - I'm sorry that Elaney has had to add another medical issue. I fear that is the road that we are taking right now. It just seems like something else keeps coming up, just when we have things " under control " . I have to remind myself on a daily basis that things could be so much worse though. Just being thankful for what we do have seems to help me get through all of this. & Grant/ 10, PsA/Uveitis > > Yesterday was Elaney's rheumatology appointment. Guest guest
, Sorry to hear that Elaney is having asthma trouble again. My girls both have asthma. Fortunatly that has been the least of all of Jayes troubles.? She is really having a rough day today. This weather is giving her fits. She was over tired this morning due to being up too late last night but then by around 1 p.m. she was in alot of pain. Her legs, back, neck and knees. tonight we add the ankles to her list of painful spaces.? She is walking like an old person again. She did pretty good over the Christmas holiday, of course she got up on her own schedule and went to bed on her own schedule for the most part. I actually think she is feeling a bit better overall now because of how she is moving. I do not dare mention it to her at this point. She is tired of not feeling good, so I can relate to your struggles with Elaney.? I still look forward to getting together with you in March if possible at our next appointment in KC. My kids are on Spring Break that week and so we are thinking of possibly coming up on Sunday afternoon and getting a room some where so the kids can swim. Of course most times that is out of the question, the price of gasoline is nearly enough to break us.? On another note I had to take Kristie Jo to have an EEG done today. She continues to have headaches. With Jaye haveing seizures from age five and now my son is officially diagnosed with seizures we thought best to check Kristie Jo out. I am praying for a normal EEG. Veri & Jaye 13 poly arthritis better but asthma is BACK Yesterday was Elaney's rheumatology appointment. She is doing great. The dr even decided to cut back on her Diclofenac. (She is still taking the same amount of mtx and folic acid.) She is now taking it once a day instead of twice a day. Yay! It will be easier for her to remember her meds now. Now she only takes meds in the morning and not at bedtime. However, when the dr was listening to Elaney's chest she heard wheezing. Elaney has had a cold lately. The dr suggested I take her to the pediatrician. So, today we saw the ped. He said she has asthma. (again!) About 1 1/2 years ago he thought she had asthma. She had not had a problem since then so I figured she did NOT have asthma. Now he thinks it is probably here to stay. BUMMER! Just one more issue to worry about. As if arthritis, heart defects, scoliosis, learning disabilities are not enough. Fun, fun, fun! (I'm being sarcastic.) I really felt bad for Elaney last night. She was coughing up a storm and in a lot of pain. She kept crying and asking why she had to be sick all the time. I felt horrible for her. The poor thing. Today was not as bad. After using the inhaler she said she felt better.----Sometimes we lightly joke about how many issues Elaney has. We say that her body is just being creative! Guest guest
Hi : I'm terribly behind on email because Jay has been really sick. Any way, I'm glad to hear the arthritis is better, but not such good news about the asthma. As you know that is a battle we are never going to win with Hannah. I can make a couple of suggestions you can try. It sounds like bedtime is worse for her. The worst time of day for asthmatics is evening into early morning (between 8:00pm & 5 am). I would give her the inhaler a good 30 minutes before bedtime when she's sick, even if she's not coughing. Hannah will often be fine until she lays down and then it starts. I also have the head of her mattress elevated which helps keep her lungs more open. If she'll drink warm tea that is great for the lungs/chest too. You could also ask about getting a nebulizer for at home. Hannah does much better with a nebulizer treatment than just an inhaler and its lasts longer. Hope she is feeling better by now. Keep me posted. Guest guest
Hi Beth!! Thanks for the info about the asthma. So far, she is still needing the inhaler at least once a day. I suppose I should call the doctor and tell him that. This asthma thing has gotten me down lately. I also have asthma and I know how painful it can be. I can't get a cold without it going straight to my chest. Also, I am getting worried about all the different issues Elaney has. Each time she adds a new issue I tend to get very down. It is very frustrating!!! Just as soon as I get used to all her issues she gets a new one. Anyway, I was reading another post by you where you mentioned that Hannah has joints that crack. Elaney does that also! Her jaw and her knee will crack and pop. She loves to gross me out with it. Is that a " normal " arthritis thing? I was just wondering. Well, I have got to get to bed. I have to work tomorrow. Take care.--- (almost 40 & FRUSTRATED) & Elaney (13 w/ JA, heart defects, scoliosis, asthma, learning disabilities, lung nodules, need I go on and on and on.....!!!!!) > > Hi : > I'm terribly behind on email because Jay has been really sick. Guest guest
Hi : I agree that you should let the doctor know. Needing the inhaler once a day is too much, and shows she's not in good control. Maybe you need a maintenance med for at least a little while. Hannah is on Adviar (along with a host of other meds), but in the winter we have bump her to the highest dose and taper back down in late spring. I fully understand the getting down with all the issues. Hannah too has many issues and I worry horribly everytime she gets sick. I just wonder, what now? As far as the cracking joints, I don't know if its normal for arthritis, but the elbow cracking is new. Everytime Hannah makes a fist her knuckles pop, it's actually a really gross sound! Almost 40 huh? When is your birthday? Welcome to the forties, I did that back in October and for me it was just another day and not a big deal. My sister however, seemed to have a major identity crisis when she turned 40 and suddenly became incredibly vein! Drives me nuts.
