Guest guest
Hi - Thank you for the post! Like I said, it's like a little sopa opera in my mind trying to imagine what that is like. But I do agree with people in Minnesota being pretty hearty! And people can take what they are used to. In SoCal - the news stations get so excited when it starts to sprinkle. They all go on STORM WATCH with frequent broadcasts from the deepest puddle they can find. To be fair, the recent rains were pretty dramatic, especially for people in the fire areas. But they always find a person who has recently moved here from out of state to talk to... and after all of the locals complain on air that they miss the sunshine, and oh, it's soooo cold... then the person who used to live in Idaho steps up in shorts and says, " Are you kidding? This is NOT weather...lol " . I think we'd be the ones on the MN news, frozen in one spot - too cold to breathe Have a great day and enjoy the heat wave!- Colleen Ray <leslie@...> wrote: Colleen, I don't live far from Helen, I think maybe 30 miles, but I don't think it was quite -40 here. I believe that was in International Falls....that is a 6 hour drive north. However I do believe with the wind Chill this past weekend it may of been close to -35. I got snowed in with my daughters in Albert Lea. It is a small town on the Iowa Boarder. It had snowed probably only about 4 inches, but it started to blow, and it caused white out conditions. I know I lived in Kentucky for 2 years, and couldn't believe how when it snowed, just an inch how the whole town shut down. I guess it really is what the body can take. I guess that is why they call us the hearty Minnesotans.....some like myself are more hearty than others! HA! Enjoy your day. I don't think the temperature is suppose to get much above 10 today, but later on in the week, closer to 32. Around here these days that is a heat wave! HA! Enjoy your day! ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Colleen Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 11:04 AM Subject: Helen - How's Nick... and 40 below????? Hi Helen- How's Nick doing after his last infusion? And how are you adjusting to the new schedule? There was a story today on about how it's record breaking cold in your neck of the woods - 40 below? I can't even imagine in. I'm whining because spring is here hot and heavy already, and I wanted some more winter.... and yet, I don't think I'd be coping well with having to put a heater on my engine block just to be able to start my car! I've been telling people about the post you made several weeks ago about kids going out to recess down to ten below there...Here, you can't even find a jacket in the stores anymore. But bikinis are everywhere already. It's a crazy world. I swear I'm not bragging - I just get mesmerized with the stories I see here from around the country. Having been born and raised in this one place, imagining all the JRA moms going about normal day stuff in 40 below is like watching a TV show in my head Hope you all are warm and well- Colleen --------------------------------- Never miss a thing.
