Guest guest
I'm trying to catch up on emails - how is Jordan doing today? Could it be appendicitis? Please let us know how she's doing, Michele ( 20, spondy) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of paula Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2008 1:35 PM Subject: Flank Pain No Answers Hi Everyone, Its been a while since I have posted. My daughter Jordan 10, has systemic, she was diagnosed just over a year ago.Things have been pretty calm. She is on Naproxen and Kineret.Occasional stiffness but that is usually the only sign of arthur. Our newest dilema though has me and all the doctors in the ED stumped. We were in the emergency room all night because Jordan has had severe flank pain on her left side and has been overly tired and sleepy,15 hours plus a day this has been going on for 5 days now. First they said it was a uti, but she has no burning when she pees and no fever, they took a urine sample and said antibiotics will help, I insisted on bloodwork being done because that gut feeling is there.Well blood work came back normal for her, which means a few things off because of the JRA but nothing pointing to what the new problem is.The doctor came in and said she is now stumped because its definitly not a uti but nothing else is showing in the blood work. So next she ordered a CT scan. Once again nothing showing. So at 5 am they send us home with no answers, Jordan is still hurting and feeling very sleepy.I feel like we are back to where we first started before her diagnosis, back to the unknown. I was just wondering if anyone has had these symptoms or any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Jordan is still having the pain today and sleeping even more, I had to wake her at 1:30 this afternoon to go see our primary. He says appendix and gallbladder are good.He was thinking pneumonia but her lungs are clear. He is really stumped he was trying to get ahold of our rheumatologist in Boston and see if he has any ideas. So once again its a waiting game. I feel like we are back to the beginning again. a(Jordan,10,SOJRA and MAS) I almost forgot , lol, when we were in the ER I had to explain MAS to the attending and they asked me what bloodwork to run " Tepper, Michele " <MTepper@...> wrote: I'm trying to catch up on emails - how is Jordan doing today? Guest guest
a, had this type of pain where we all thought it was Appendix and then the Gall Bladder. All Tests came back Negative. The Ultra Sound was done on the whole Abdomen as well and nothing still showed up. She also had pain in the center of her chest. Which was later found out that she had Arthritis in the rib's as well. The Pain in the side and abdomen still comes and goes. The Dr never figuired it out and finally diagnosed it with JRA related. She was also Diagnosed with CTD ( Connective Tissue Disease ) which can be related to this type of pain in the area as Muscle. I would discuss this over with the Dr. He can do a Blood Test to check the Muscle Enzymes. We have thought it was also her Kidneys as well. So maybe checking this out as well. With JA something can pop up and we think it is not related but in the end we find that JA is more than we thought. When was asked about the Pain she always said it feels different than the JA pain. She had a Bad Flare with this a couple of years ago. When taken to the ER this one Doctor did extreme testing. He came back and said it was related to the MCTD. I knew a lot about the CTD and knew so far she had the issue with the Muscles in her arms and legs. But to see it act up in this way was totally different. Surprizingly JA has many angles in which it can attack. Not only the Joints, But it can attack the eyes and Organs. I always say JA is like getting on a Roller Coaster and never getting off. Hope this helps, Robbin Mom to age 20, Poly JA with Related Issues. **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Hi my name is Tricia, I chime in between Dr visits but read the blog almost evernight. I am a massage therapist. My daughter is 2 and has alot of the same issues. I do what they call a Myofascial release on her in between her ribs on the costal cartlidges. It helps bring some relief. I also check for trigger points. They are knots in the muscle that refer pain to other places. It seems to help. When a person has inflamation in the joint, the muscle get " kinked " and shortned. Iam not sure were you live But you can go on AMTA.org to find a therapist or if your child goes to PT tell them they can do the same thing, or mabey evan find a chiropractor that does Applied Keinsoilogy. Hope this helps. It sucks when they dont feel good and there is nothing that you can do. We spent all day yesterday in the ER, Kennas feet were so swollen they were a reddish./ purplish color. Anyway good luck Tricia sapphire <sapphire61768@...> wrote: Jordan is still having the pain today and sleeping even more, I had to wake her at 1:30 this afternoon to go see our primary.
