" My arthritis sometimes hurts because when I'm sick I have to take a shot twice a week, " Andy explained. " I don't have to cope with it if it's not active. When active it gets to be really painful. " I had a rough morning and had a hard time getting out of bed. I asked my mom to help me up, " Andy said. " When I get itchy it feels like a tickle then spreads to that itchy feeling. " The nature of the disease is it goes up and down said . " So many people think arthritis is part of the aging process, " she said. " This morning he spent a lot of time crawling around on the floor. Hopefully, we'll find a cure and can provide research. Guest guest
That was even after I spelled it... twice! Not only that bu much of it was taken out of context and " I don't have to cope with it when it's not active " -- I don't think Andy even knows what that means! Only once he's been told that he didn't have any active arthritis, and that didn't last long. He doesn't even know what the word " cope " means. We were thankful the story was written to maybe generate some ticket sales to our fundraising event, but overall, I was quite disappointed. I'm a journalism major and to have that many mistakes in one article is rather unprofessional. Also, another quick story another newspaper did was to publish the press release I sent word for word and then write their own caption to a file photo they had. Though the entire story was about Andy having arthritis, the caption still read he had juvenile diabetes. I guess we need to look at the greater good and realize that the information may be incorrect, but they did accomplish the task of spreading awareness about juvenile arthritis, and that is at least one area that could use some press coverage. Guest guest
We have something in common...I have a journalism degree as well (before I became a nurse). Articles like that drive me bananas! I also had a local paper print my press release word for word but added their own ridiculous misspellings...do they not have spell check?? Another article about Rob giving a talk to his grade school messed up several facts as well. Is it that they just don't care enough to get it right? I guess it is as you said, we just have to be glad that awareness is being spread. The caption about the juvenile diabetes would have driven me nuts, though!! You are to be commended and admired for your efforts! You go girl!! and Rob 18 JAS Re: A cure for their suffering > That was even after I spelled it... twice! Not only that bu much > of it was > taken out of context and " I don't have to cope with it when it's > not active " > -- I don't think Andy even knows what that means!
