Guest guest
My guess is that he is teething. Our daughter gets a low grade fever each time a tooth is coming through (and that usually takes about a week). During the day she is her same old self because she is not focused on it, but night time is a whole different story. I usually give he pulsitilla because she is also really clingy at night or sometimes belladonna when she is crying out and really restless. I would look at his other emotional symptoms at night and choose a homeopathic remedy that matches. Just my thoughts. Guest guest
This can be scary. When my son was 9mo he had a fever for 4 or 5 days. I didn't know anything about fevers at the time so I gave him tylenol, but not the recommended amt so it did nothing for him. My son was actually acting lethargic and had no balance. It turned out that he had an ear infection, which probably came on from teething. We did give antibiotics at the time, because I didn't know about not using antibiotics at the time. I would not do any of this next time around. I think you are on the right path with just keeping your son comfortable and avoiding meds. We have not encountered too many fevers since that one, so I am not looking forward to that day because I know it will be hard. One other thing, I was thinking that it is usually best to limit solids during a fever because it makes the liver work that much harder. You might want to switch to just breastmilk if he would allow it. I don't know if anyone else has comments about this. Tara > > Hi all, > DS(12mos)has had a fever since Friday night. Guest guest
I have read that when they have a fever, it is good for it to be all over their body. If it is just isolated to a certain part of the body, then it is not going to work correctly. I can't remember why exactly. I have been trying to remember, for my own info, but I can't even remember where I read it. Does anyone else remember reading this? Guest guest
The eruption of various teeth can cause different problems. The molars and " eye " teeth (also called canines or cuspids) tend to be more difficult for many babies. Guest guest
I just got in and opened this email and have not read any of the responses so forgive if this is a repeat. I have an unvaxed 9 month old and am BF and felt the same way-like it was a free ticket to never being sick! At 7 months old he came down with a 102 temp, very sick and uncomfortable but no other symptoms. I was worried. For the first time I did not administer any Tylenol or Motrin. I BF around the clock and cared for him. After 4 days it burned off and a rash on his back and trunk appeared which proved to be Roseola. It could be this is what your son has too. Sometimes we just have to ride it out and watch. It is so hard to do I know. Keep us posted and I hope your baby is better soon. I'm wondering if my body is so busy taking care of the new baby, that it can't focus as well on DS?????? > > Ingrid?????? Laurie, I know it can be easy to think that breastfed babies never get ill. But like Sheri and others have mentioned, illness is not something that needs to be feared if you follow an otherwise healthy lifestyle. I know there can be inherited miasms and Hom. is excellent at dealing with these. Breastfed babies still get ill but in general less often and not as severely. I can't stress enough that one of the main benefits of brf is the STRENGHTHENING OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM! If this body engine is strong, than most illnesses will take their natural course and the baby will be well again. Any fever medication will only suppress the fever ( which is not good) and then the whole illness is going to last longer and you end up with complications because the body is stopped from doing its job. Read all you can about fever suppressers.I like to compare any suppression to a half inflated balloon that you squeeze on one end and it inflats at the other end; you simply push the disturbance into another deeper area of the body and this can cause complications. Reading about the benefits of fever will help you deal with any fear and also help you trust your own instincts. The younger generations have been brought up to believe that any illness is bad and that it needs to be fought with any means possible. It took me many years of reading and research to understand that this is not the case. My son and brf helped me a lot during this journey. This list is great for support and information, read all you can, it is so important for your family's future. Ingrid

Some babies just have a fever and you know their body is fighting off something and they can cope really well in spite of the fever. The brf will have a lot to do with this. If he is otherwise fine, I would not worry too much. Ingrid

Fever has been from 101-104.9. I just feel like if I don't get this fever to break, he's not getting the proper sleep to fight off whatever the illness is either - right now he's waking every 20-30 minutes, startled, sitting upright and crying? It doesn't help to use a remedy that doesn't match the symptoms Can you get the remedy? Guest guest
Could it be something like Roseola? Usually a rash appears I think on the 5th day and then the fever drops and they feel better. ) ~ http://www.thelucastribe.com ~ KUSTOMIZED KIDS ~ http://www.cafepress.com/kustomizedkids Baby & Kids, Pregnancy, Natural Parenting, Wedding, & Personalized Clothing Designs Christmas designs are up! It's great that his appetite is so good. How does he look? Other symptoms would be nice at this point to let you know he's expressing whatever is bothering him, but I don't think they're necessary other than the fever itself.......Anita
