Guest guest
Hi Michele, Sorry I havent been back on to update, been working nights the past few days so my schedule is all messed up. After last talking Jordan was admitted to the hospital on the 6th and they kept her for 4 days. The bloodwork they did that night showed her white cell count had skyrocketd when it had been normal 3 days before when we were in the ER, so this time they believed there was something wrong. They gave her a huge dose of morphine for her pain but it didnt touch it.They did a CT scan with contrast and chest xrays. There concern was the MAS was rearing its ugly head. This time the ER doctor actually was very caring and was in contact with the rheumatologist and our primary. Well the morphine didnt work for the pain, the Ct scan and xrays showed nothing so we were admitted.Theythen put her on toridal which finally took away the flank pain. She was only on that for a few days and then put her on indomethicin , which gave her an upset stomache . In the end they sent us home saying they have no idea what was wrong with her because her white count returned to normal and everything else looked as normal as it usually gets for her.So there final diagnosis was that it was her JRA. Now she is feeling better, back on her naproxen and back in school. Her only complaint is the blisters she now has in the roof of her mouth that have been coming and going since thursday,. So we are back to the mystery patient...lol Thanks for the concern, Im off to work again, only 2 more nights yay.... a and Jordan (9, systemic) " Tepper, Michele " <MTepper@...> wrote: Hi, a. Guest guest
a, I remember reading your post about Jordan when this first began - is it normal for systemic jra kids to have their white cells increase dramatically for no reason? It seems so odd, now with the blisters in the roof of her mouth as well. Was an infectious disease doc called in? JRA kids seem to do their fair share of stumping medical community. I hope Jordan continues to feel better with no return of her previous symptoms. Guest guest
's white blood cell amt would increase dramatically with a flare - but didn't often drop as quickly.? He went for months with his wbc elevated before we were at a level of good control. Guest guest
Glad to see the update. I am sorry she is still a mystery however. I can't remember what if any meds Jordan may take for the JRA, but when would get mouth sores from taking the MTX, he found rinsing his mouth with Listerine would help. They have all sorts of flavors now; maybe one would help Jordan? Just a thought, and please keep us updated, Michele ( 20, spondy) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of sapphire Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 5:45 PM Subject: Re: a/Jordan Hi Michele, Sorry I havent been back on to update, been working nights the past few days so my schedule is all messed up.
