Guest guest
Happy New Year everyone!! I can't wait to see what 2008 will bring for us all-especially our new experiences together!! With the launching of Arthritis Introspective that and others have made possible-to hopefully another Gathering and the AJAO Conference in California...can't wait to see everyone!! On another note: I often watch " Intervention " on A & E because it never fails to inspire me to see how people facing addictions and dependancies can turn their lives around to being sober. I don't know how many of you have seen this documentary-type " reality " show, but it is very powerful and deep-often times leading me to tears. It basically profiles one (or two) people per episode showing how their addiction (drugs, alcohol, gambling and even food) controls their life and the lives of those who love them. The show gets to the nitty-gritty of the dependants problems, addictions and side effects of their actions. The person being profiled has no idea an " Intervention " is about to happen where their family and closest friends catch them somewhat off-guard and try to get them help at a selected treatment facility. The dependant has to decide " on-the-spot " and under pressure if they are going to leave that day to get help. I have seen so many inspiring stories, but the preview of the next brand new episode REALLY caught my attention and prompted me to send you all this email. The next episode is to air this next Monday night January 7th at 9:00 on A & E (Arts and Entertainment channel on cable). It's about a woman (possible an adolescent/young adult) with JRA who became addicted to her pain meds. When the commercial came on for this new episode I almost fell off my chair. She doesn't look familiar to me and I don't think any of us have met her...although I could be wrong. I think all of us should watch this episode if we can because I think many of us can identify with what she is (or was) going through. The preview alone was really shocking to me...they showed her actually passed out on her kitchen floor and other frightening scenes of what she has gone through within herself and with her family. Anyway...didn't want to end this email on a sad note, but I just wanted you all to know the show is airing. I couldn't help but think of everyone in my wonderful arthritis family and although I hope and pray that none of you face what the young woman in the show faces, I know it is a possibility based on what we all go through. Maybe if several of us watch the show monday we can start a conversation via email to get everyone's opinions on it. Just an idea... I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration and a very Merry Christmas prior to it!!! I ended up doing nothing too exciting since I have been pretty sick since last Thursday...blah...taking antibiotics and hope to be back to work tomorrow!!! Love & Miss you all... ** --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
