Guest guest
Hi Lori, This is exactly what happened to me, I think. I started Enbrel and for three months or so, did not notice any improvement. My Rheumatologist introduced me to MTX and ....Whammo!.....success!!! Now, I don't know if the Enbrel finally kicked in and the MTX didn't mean anything or that this combination is the working combo. I take 15 mgs. of MTX divided into three doses. Two Thursday morning, two Thursday evening and two Friday morning. I've never been sick from it so I'm sticking with that. I do know that I am going to ask my Rheumatologist again if the three, separate doses are shocking my liver. He told me no last time but I shall ask him again. I will be off Prednisone at the end of this month and then I want to start lowering the MTX little by little to see if just the Enbrel will keep me feeling the same. Sure hope so as I hate taking the MTX. I'm glad you are feeling better. I can't wait for the new Enbrel needles, can you? ) xxoo Mi. Guest guest
Hi Lori, I was on only the 3 pills once a week a couple of different times. They helped me feel so much better..(until I got sick from it..but, my system is very touchy) To avoid nausea even on the 3 pill dose, I would take one at a time with a full glass of water, and wait at least a couple of hours before taking the next pill. This worked really well. After I was on the MTX pills for about a year, I started to feel very fatigued, and also just plain " sick, " though not so much nauseated. I was on the MTX injections until they also made me very sick, and my hair seemed to be getting thinner than it already was. Did your doctor also prescibe a daily dose of 1mg of Folic Acid? This helps to keep side effects at bay. (such as hair loss.) Everyone reacts so differently with different meds. I am one of the few who gets side effects from just about anything by just looking at it. Hope this combo works well for you Lori! ~~tricia~~ Wisconsin *************************************************** -- Enbrel & Methotrexate Hi everyone. My doc just put me on Methotrexate in addition to the Enbrel I m already on cuz Enbrel alone is just not doing the trick. Anyone else on this combo have any advice or experience to offer? I'm on a very small dose three one time a week, the beginners dose. Has anyone else had to go very high on this drug, does anyone know of it working in a very small dose?? Thanks! Guest guest
Do those of you taking both mtx and Enbrel take them the same day? is due for her mtx tonight and I picked up the Enbrel. She is concerned whether it is okay to take both the same day - she would like to take both on the weekend without waiting a week. Thanks --------------------------------- Never miss a thing.
