Guest guest
Hello to all. I would like to say thanks to everyone for the kind words and support. To give an update, went to rheum last week. The plan is to have joint injections, and start IVIG. He also mentioned some chemo drugs if that doesnt work. Started tylenol3 for pain. He called this week and told us that rilanocept has just been fda approved, but not for jra. So maybe we will do joint injections, and then start rilanocept(after we fight with insurance co.) Can anyone share their experience with joint injections? How long does it take to get relief, and is it painful? I know she will be sedated, but will she be in pain after? Thanks again Jae's mom
Guest guest
hi Kellie, my only experience with joint injections is once with my daughter (awake) and for myself, so it may be different than with young children. When the injection is given, there is a numbing medication also injected, so there may be mild pain at the injection site when that wears off, but ice packs usually help if it gets too uncomfortable. The injections may start to work immediately, or may take a day or so to start feeling the effect. My understanding is that you may continue to see increased benefit over days to a few weeks and the benefit may last months. This is just my experience and the information my doctor has given me. I hope that the injections give Jae tremendous relief and that the IVIG helps as well (my daughter is on IVIG but for a different treatment reason). It is a shame you have to fight the insurance co for auth for Rilanocept, but I hope you win your approval. Please keep us updated as you can about Jae. Keeping you in thought as well.
