Guest guest
Hi All, As you probably already know a Tornado hit Atlanta last night. The reason I am writing is to let those who went to the 2006 AJAO Conference. The CNN Center was hot, Omni Hotel was hit, Olympic Park was hit, Several of the tall building's around there were hit, Underground Atlanta area was hit as well. Roads into Atlanta were shut down even Highways were covered in stuff and shut down. News reporters said it looks like a war zone. No fatalities were reported just 27 injured. Amazing the Georgia Dome was having a Basketball game and some of that roof was taken off. Due to the pressure of the Tornado the Georgia Dome water pipes busted and water went everywhere as with some of the other buildings there. The major area hit was where the 2006 AJAO Conference was held. Robbin **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Guest guest
Robbin, Am glad to know that you all are doing well. Sorry to hear about the tornado. We are already hearing so much about tornado season and we seem to be almost too relaxed about it until we actually hear about the damage it does. We will be on guard all Spring and Summer but then after the Fall and Winter we get a bit too comfortable thinking we are safe. This past year has proven to many people that tornados can destroy towns and lives year round. It almost seems like tornado season is 12 months of the year now. Thanks for the update. Guest guest
Hey Robbin: Was just reading an on-line article about this. Glad you and your family are safe, but what a lot of devastation. Just goes to show, tornadoes can hit anywhere, not just rural areas. Sending prayers & happy thoughts, Beth :-) 2006 AJAO Conference area Hit by Tornado Hi All, As you probably already know a Tornado hit Atlanta last night. Guest guest
Veri, The last few years have been unseasonable. Tornado's in each season. The weather is getting so off now. Today there was 12 Tornados sighted. Even where I live the Tornado Sirens went off and we only had Hail the size of nickels. I was out and about and my hubby kept me informed where not to be. Atlanta Downtown has now got to deal with debris which is falling from the buildings still and the streets. So most roads are still closed. Our Local Newspaper AJC ( Atlanta Journal.) Front page says this. Atlanta in Choas I pray all are ok in other states as well since this came from Alabama. Storms really make you think. Robbin **************It's Tax Time!
