Guest guest
Tracey, Just wondering if you have made your trip to Kansas City this month yet. We were up there on Monday last week and had a good appointment. I did learn that they have some sort of resources to help pay for expenses of the trip. I am not sure what the resources are and what it takes to qualify but I intend to find out. While we were visiting with Dr. Hoetzel he asked about our trip up and wondered if insurance would help pay for any of the?expenses. Of course I said no. He asked if it would be ok to have a social worker from the hospital to contact me about the resources they have to help with meals, lodging and travel expenses. I told him that I would be glad to talk to them but I did not know if I would qualify since I only travel 180 miles to get there. He just kind of laughed at me and said that he appreciated that I was not complaining about having to travel that far. I explained to him that I know of many parents to travel much further then 3 hours to their rheumy. He said well he understood that since he has patients that come in from Colorado as well. But he also said that he has many parents that whine about the inconvenience of having to trave 30 miles to see him. He said he really liked my attitude. I told him that if I could just find a motel close to the hospital with a indoor pool that might give a discounted rate I would be thrilled. They have not contacted me yet but I will be interested to hear what they might have available to help. Veri & Jaye 14 poly
