Guest guest
Robin, Welcome to the group. I am sorry to hear about your sister. I studied about polycitistic kidneys while in school. Feel free to write and shate anytime. This is a great group! Kellie getting to know you I am Robin. I am a new member and I am in West Virginia. I was raised in the Baptist faith but my faith of choice was Catholic, which I converted to several years ago. At this point I don't really practice any religion although I would like to again. When I was 17, my oldest sister was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease. She was only 28. Since this disease is hereditary, I was also tested for it and told I had it, but that it would probably be many years before I had to worry about it. My sister could not be treated with dialysis and she died at age 35. Two years ago (at age 41) my disease became active. Everything in my life turned upside down. I had to give up my job and many other of the things I enjoyed in my life. I do dialysis 9 hours a day (but I do it at home so that's OK). Some days I feel fine and other days I feel lousy. I go the hospital once a month for blood tests and I give myself injections once a week. I have up days and down days, which I guess is to be expected. Everyone in my family is gone except for one foster sister whom I live with and she helps take care of me when I can't care for myself. She and my dog, Nigel, are all I have in this world and I love them both dearly. I do the best I can but sometimes I feel alone and lost and confused and that's what I wanted you guys for! :-) Robin ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get paid for the stuff you know! Guest guest
Hello Robin Welcome to our group, I am sure you will like it here, lots of caring people to share everything with. WOW that must be so hard 9 hours dialysis a day, I think the only way I could handle that is if I could sit in he Internet at the same time. Can you do anything while it is happening? Don't mean to ask stupid questions! I bet that was hard losing your sister and then knowing you had the same thing How are you coping? Sounds like you share our common gripe of family/friends running a mile when you really need them!! What type of doggie is Nigel? Do you get on well with your foster sister? You have found the best place here for helping you feel not so alone, please share and talk away. I am a carer for my hubby and as Aisha says I am the one who makes everyone vent their anger, I am also the chocy addict who can't find the chat room unless I have scoffed some chocy!! Just wanted to say hello and welcome Lots of love Nerys
Guest guest
>>Welcome to our group, I am sure you will like it here, lots of caring people to share everything with. >> Thanks for all the welcomes...you seem like a wonderful group. >>WOW that must be so hard 9 hours dialysis a day, I think the only way I could handle that is if I could sit in he Internet at the same time. Can you do anything while it is happening?>> It's not so bad. I'm used to it really. I am in my room with my computer and my TV and music etc. Yes, I can do anything I want as long as I don't get more than six feet away from the machine! Kind of like being on a leash! LOL! >> Don't mean to ask stupid questions!>> Ask any questions you want....I'm fine with it. :-) >> I bet that was hard losing your sister and then knowing you had the same thing How are you coping?>> Very well, actully. My disease is very different from my sister's. She had a lot of other physical problems and I don't. Her form of the disease was rare and mine is more norm. I worried a lot when they told me I had it but her disease and mine are different so I am really OK. >> Sounds like you share our common gripe of family/friends running a mile when you really need them!! >> That's not the case. :-) My family is all deceased. >>What type of doggie is Nigel?>> He is Border Collie and Fiest mix. He was adopted from a shelter. He takes care of me and keep me company. >> Do you get on well with your foster sister?>> Yes, she is my best friend. >> You have found the best place here for helping you feel not so alone, please share and talk away.
