Abel, 24, was diagnosed with arthritis at age four and " lived through restricted activity, routine trips to children's hospitals, splints, crutches, pain and subjective opinions " until the condition went into remission when he was 13. " The settling of my arthritis lit a fire within to push myself in every way, " Abel said in a news release. It's believed that one in 250 children and youth battle arthritis on a daily basis.
