Guest guest
Hello All Quick question for all you veteran moms out there ... Do your kids wear out much quicker even when not in a flare? I ask because today we went to a local water park for much of the day. Will was diagnosed in Nov/Dec and his flare is almost controlled and this was really the first chance we have done a major outing for the day since our arthritis journey started. We haven't had a chance to do an all day activity since he has started to feel better. Normally we do something and then have some down time. I'm not sure if it was the sun and playing or if maybe the whole experience in general was just too much for his body. I asked a couple times during the day if he was doing alright but I think he was just focused on being with " the guys " and didn't want to be the kid taking a rest. Thoughts? Guest guest
- We have questioned Grant's endurance being affected by his PsA too. Our family has always enjoyed going for bike rides but last Fall was the first time Grant could not keep up with us(He was dx last summer). My healthy 8 year old has no trouble at all. Last Fall we figured that Grant was probably just tired because he was up later the night before. Well - It has happened again both times we've gone this summer. He complains of his back hurting so I guess it could be the bike too. I suspect it is the disease though, but can't be sure. I plan to ask our Rheumy about it tomorrow. & Grant (11, PsA/Uveitis) > > , > There could be many thing's which can cause this. Heat, Excitement due to > having so much fun. Flares come with Fatigue. Feeling tired with us is > something we got use to with . As the Body needs extra rest. We do make > sure she rest's before a Outing. Then she will need to rest a few days after. > She did VBS from Sunday to Sunday so today she was exhausted and is just having > a lazy day. Guest guest
Yes, is often would tire (and still does) more quickly. The body is fighting itself, even if you may not see active flare activity. Plus the meds will sometimes do this as well. would often come home from school and take a nap (and this was high school). He still comes home from work and we realize that he has fallen asleep for a bit. The kids will definitely fight to still be " one of the guys " and deal with the consequences later at home, I believe. They push themselves and then sometimes end up with a major flare (lots of swelling and pain) or even just being more exhausted than normal. Unfortunately it is one of the things that comes with the disease. Guest guest
Dear , My daughter hasn't been diagnosed yet with JRA, but shows all the signs of it and is being treated like she has it. My daughter gets VERY tired all the time, whether she is having a flare or not. She is very different than all of her friends. She has spurts of energy and acts very normal...then just dies. As she is getting older, she will come to me and say that she needs a nap or it is time to watch a movie. Her friends just don't understand, why she can not keep up with them. We had her iron levels checked at one point and she was INCREDIBLY low iron. We thought...maybe this was the reason she couldn't keep up with everyone, but her iron is fine now and she still is " overly " tired. I wish i could help you more, but i wanted to let you know...that i have seen that my child is tired as well.
