Guest guest
Veri, is on Prevacid, 30mg twice daily. We had no trouble at all getting it filled; our insurance company didn't do any second guessing. Liz _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of veristroud@... We went to the pharmacy and they would not fill it because she had filled her other one just three weeks ago and so it was not time. When I said we needed the new one because of the increased dose, they said that no insurance will pay for someone to be on prevacid twice per day. Anyone out there heard this before and if so how did you beat it. They are going to try for an override tomorrow when there is a live person in the office rather then the computer generated denial. Just wondering. Since he has changed her from Naproxin to Mobic maybe her tummy troubles will get better but I am not so sure. Guest guest
You need to ask them to start a prior authorization with dose override. I get at least 5 of these across my desk every week. It can be done, but the pharmacy has to first submit it to the insurance and they have to reject it. Your pharmacy cannot you tell they won't try. The only other stipulation might be whether prevacid is on your " preferred list " . Some insurance companies with require she try and fail 2 of their preferred drugs before agreeing to a dose override for a non-preferred drug. Hope that makes sense. Good luck! Guest guest
Liz, Beth and Robbin, thanks for your response. Before I left the pharmacy last night I asked them to try for an override. When I first went in they said it was refused because it was too soon, so I am praying that is the case. I told the pharmacist that yes I knew it was less then 30 days but that the script was a new one with a stronger dosage and that is when she said that she did not think the pharmacy would allow it. Tonight after I got off of work I called to check and they have not heard anything yet today, good or bad so will wait for tomorrow. I think I am glad that they have taken her off of the naproxin to try something new. I just hope the Mobic will be easier on her tummy and work to control her pain and swelling. She has only had a couple of bad days since school started with pain and swelling. All days she is stiff some but not for more then 10 minutes in the morning so we were not really complaining there. The rheumy said he finds no active athritus so this would be a good time I guess to try a new med and hope to settle her tummy down. Guest guest
i think that the main reason insurance would reject is you have to try other medichines before getting Prevacid. in our case our Dr called the insurance company and explained the needs of Prevacid. Pls, try to get a help from your doctor. ________________________________ From: Beth Yohnk <yohnkmom@...> Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2008 8:04:08 AM Subject: Re: Anyone on Prevacid You need to ask them to start a prior authorization with dose override.
