I have noticed such a huge improvement and I am hoping she sees it as well. My fingers are finally hypermobile again which means the swelling is no longer impairing my ability to straighten them out all the way (Ok I'm not doctor but that is my assessment of the situation). So we will see how it goes, I really have only one complaint which is my left knee so I have my fingers crossed and I am hoping that everything goes well. Keep me in your thoughts. Guest guest
I am on a low dose of prednisone (5mg once a day). Dr. C was ecstatic about how well I am doing. She came in and said " you look great! " She said she had been thinking about me a lot and really hoping this treatment would work, because unfortunately the other medicines have had so many adverse reactions that there is always concern about putting me back on them. She said she was a bit worried that we had run out of options and would have to stick me back on one of the harsher treatments (while they work the bone marrow supression, perforated bowel, ect were not great side effects). However it appears that I am doing fabulous and she wants me to maintain this dose for the next couple of months and hopefully I will just keep doing better and better. I absolutely love her though. In the past I wasnt a huge fan because I was seeing one of her fellows and she would stop by at the end to make sure the fellow covered everything it didnt seem like she knew who I was which I hated. Now the fellow is gone and I get to see just her and she seems to remember everything, like today she asked me if I was on break now or still teaching kindergarten. She sees a ton of patients and yet she remembered that. It feels good that she knows about me not just my disease. But she was incredibly happy with how I was doing and glad that I am feeling well. I am getting an MRI on my left knee because it hasn't responded too well to the prednisone and she wants to make sure that we aren't missing anything. So it was a great appointment, I don't have to go back for three months, and the treatment is working. All in all I am feeling quite happy. Guest guest
Hi , That is so awesome to hear that you are doing better!! You are right about Fellows and Doctors! Maggie goes to the University of Iowa Childrens Hospital and it is students, residents, fellows and FINALLY the actual doctor. Sometimes it gets overwhelming for me as a parent but it is certainly overwhelming to her as the patient and the child. We have asked for now to just please see her actual doctor to keep her anxiety levels down, also it helps her to NOT have to explain and explain things, by the time her doctor got in the room she was basically done speaking to any of them. We will be keeping you in our prayers!! Have a wonderful holiday!! Guest guest
It seems like the more interesting the medical case the more random doctors you see during one appointment too. It can be frustrating Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T Re: Appointment with rheumy today @group s.com Date: Thursday, December 18, 2008, 5:24 PM , I've forgotten, what treatment are you on now??
