Guest guest
I would say being off Metx caused me stress. I was ok with her on it. But as we weened off my stress went up. It will be ok. She is doing good we are 2 years off. We had a flare after 9 months off. We had a tragic event so my Rhemy said it is related to that . She has not flared since. Just thought I'd share our bit of potential good news and to see if anyone else has experienced this. We had been trying to wean from the MTX but in November his knees, toes, and fingers got swollen and sore. We had dropped down to .2 injections every other week about a month earlier so I assumed he was beginning to react to the weaning. We saw another rheumy (not a pediatric rheumy) in our rheumy's office as he was out of town. She had us go back to weekly injections...still at .2. On Monday went for a recheck with his pediatric rheumy...and there was no sign of active disease (again...it had been like this since November 2009). He did bloodwork to confirm but we don't have those results yet. However the rheumy feels that his flare would not have been brought on that quickly nor resolved this quickly. He feels he simply had a viral infection which caused the pain and swelling...and no flare. If all remains the same, in March we will continue weaning him from the mtx. I am so happy...I would love to get him off the mtx. He has weight gaining issues and while he never complains of tummy troubles, I do wonder if we stop the mtx will he eat better. He is down to a much too skinny weight of 38 pounds...at 48+ inches tall...after his bout with a nasty sinus infection. He's back on two pedisure a day as well as super monitoring of caloric intake...lots of little meals and snacking. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone has had this happen to them...the virus imitating a flare. The rheumy said it was due to his compromised immune system...although I was not at this appointment so perhaps daddy misunderstood. All the best, & , 7, poly plus a bunch of other stuff
