Guest guest
I don't know about your situation but my mother in law has low blood pressure and has actually collapsed a couple times because it just drops on her and she gets super dizzy. Her doc told her to start adding salt to her foods and to try to gain a couple pounds. She is about 5'5 " and maybe 110 pounds. Also, look at your diet, there are a lot of foods that are recommended for people with high blood pressure that you could be eating that are adding to the effect the medicine is causing. I would give it a couple weeks at the most and then maybe meet with a cardiaologist. They would know best about the BP and if there is anything else causing it. Hugs to you. I can't imagine your pain but hope the best for you. Several weeks ago we went back to the pain doctor. She has always tried to get me relief without tranquilizing me. Apon arrival we went to get triaged. (weight height temp. Etc.) Height, good, weight, good, temperature, okay, blood pressure. So the first time the lady took my blood pressure she looked at and shook her head. Then asked me to uncross my legs sit up straight and not to move and in ch or talk at all. She took it again, and then again. Her eyes were correct 85/44 I should be at least 95 - 100. It figures that somehow CVS had told us to apply the patch for my clonindine daily, not weekly. We thought I was getting too much medicine. So we stopped the clonindine and went on tramadol. We also went to WAL MART to get a BP monitor. The past few days it has been super low sometimes dropping in the low 70's the lowest was 74/44 with a pulse of 80. We went to the pediatrician yesterday she thought that drinking Gatorade and lots of activity would help. I am playing with my puppy outside and drinking TONS of Gatorade but the blood pressure seems to go up to 100 only after activity or food and after an hour it starts going back down. Not to mention the awful pain from the arthritis. The problem is we have to be so so careful with the pain meeds because of the BP problems. We have no clue what to do. I was wondering if anyone out there has had any problems like this. We keep contemplating checking in to the hospital, but the hospitals in my town tend to just drug you up and send you home. Guest guest
Are you still off the clonidine? That will definitely do it. The good thing is you can do what all of us old people with high blood pressure have to avoid, eat salt. Salty snacks will bring your bp up. Drink lots of fluid. Get up and down slowly, cause it can drop upon standing. You guys are doing the right thing, by keeping a check on your pressure. I am sorry about your pain. I know that it can be miserable. I see it in my kids' faces. Take care, praying that you feel better, soon. Audra poly 07 Peyton poly 08 > > Hello everyone > I hope no one is having as much trouble as I am right now. Guest guest
Hi Shea, My kids all have low BP issues here, mostly due to autonomic dysfunction, but we have been having unusual lows with Madison lately that we have yet to fully explain. We are not, however, using pain meds, so take my thoughts with that in mind. To check and see if it is autonomic in nature, take your BP while lying down, twice. Wait a few minutes, then sit up and take it twice again. Wait a few more minutes, than stand and take it two more times. If it drops with positional changes, it could be autonomic. Ideally increasing fluids & salt intake will make a difference. Question is, how much Gatorade are you getting in? For us to see decent BP's, the kids need to be taking in 80-90 ounces a day. If they are dry to start with (dehydrated), we really need to get in around 120-130 ounces to get their blood volume up high enough to increase the BP's. Are you feeling dizzy at all? If not, it could also be that you tend to run low, which some people do. If there are no symptoms with the low BP, the hospital won't likely have much to offer, other than some IV fluids. Hope this helps in some way!! BIG hugs, , proud mom to Chance(17-mito), Madison(14-mito/JIA) & Abby(12-mito) Sent from my iPhone On Jan 5, 2011, at 7:32 AM, Shea Reasoner <sheareasoner1@...> wrote: > Hello everyone > I hope no one is having as much trouble as I am right now.
