Hi Issadora,

We're all ... relatively well : )

I'm just trying to get over this uncommonly virulent cold that we all caught.

Josh has been back on the Enbrel for about 7 weeks now, after a 6 month pause.

He's also taking a lowered dose of both his daily Indomethacin and the Plaquenil

.... and added a GERD med ... and he's beginning to feel better than he has for

the past few months, so that makes me happy. He even had the energy and stamina

to go to the beach today. He loves the beach but hadn't been going lately.

First, it was his joints and arthritis junk acting up. Then, the fatigue and

likely chosteochondritis again. Getting out there today was a real good sign

that maybe he's finally coming into his own again. Hmm. I don't often use that

cliché but it seems to fit, right about now : )

Josh had a rather tragic emotional shock, a couple days ago. One of his friends,

who he's known from middle school thru high school, died. The boy lived just

around the corner. He was shot several times, by his father, and died in the

yard - with his Mom and siblings looking on.

Murder doesn't often happen on our island and this, as you might imagine, struck

particularly close to home. The holidays can be such a stressful time of year

for so many folks, especially in this day and age with the added stressors of an

uncertain economy and the rising costs of living. Everything is not as rosy as

Hallmark would have us believe. There are so many unrealistic expectations and

sometimes the pressure just gets to be too much.

So I was very glad that Josh and his friends went to the beach and spent some

time together, today. Time to reminisce (sp?), talk things out, and try to come

to terms with their loss.

Wishing you peace, in your heart and in your home,

Georgina

Hi Georgina,

I'm so sorry to hear about the tragedy that has struck in you and your son's

lives!  I hope that he is able to find a little peace in his heart for

Christmas and that he and his friends and your community are able to grieve and

then find comfort in each other.  Know that our families' thoughts and prayers

are with you.  Glad that his arthritis is calming a bit too!
