Guest guest
G'day all, I write, embarrassed, but have to be totally honest in order to be of benefit to anyone here, including myself. Do you think we have a warped perception of everyday life, because of this disease? Do you think that at times we have higher expectations for our children- because they overcome so much- that the little things are blown out of proportion? Bayly wet the bed again this morning. And I was very cranky about it. Not because he wet the bed, but the reason why: he didn't want to get cold feet. This isn't the first time he's wet the bed, and won't be the last I know, but every other time has been because he's too stiff or sore to get out of bed to go to the toilet. Those are the days that I carry him to the bath to warm and wash him. And though I can tell you, I am so sick of stripping/washing/making beds, and it hurts my back something fierce to do it or to carry my 6 y.o. boy...I still don't get as mad as I did this morning. And let's face it, taking a mattress outside to try find sunshine probably isn't as heavy as my 20 kilo son, but I grumbled the entire time! Mind you, HE grumbled because I made him take a shower instead of a bath. (I wanted to get him clean, quick!) Now I feel guilty and ashamed of myself for being so cross because it's absolutely NORMAL for a 6 y.o. to do things like this. I think I expect too much of him, because he is so capable and extraordinary in so many other ways. I mean, he even came up with the solution for not getting cold feet when getting out of bed in winter - wear socks to bed! [] I guess I just needed a reality check.
