Guest guest
Sorry to hear this! I hope these additional therapies help quickly. Great that her labs and MRI were perfect! I hope you can get the painful 1/2 of her life to near perfect as well. nn > > So we had our rhuemy apt yesterday. Good news is arthritis is finally coming under control. Yeah! MRI was perfect, labs are perfect, and 1/2 the time seems perfect. The other 1/2 not so good. Dr. feels she has developed a pain syndrome. Thankful that it isn't something worse although she will continue to watch carefully. We already know she is in tremendous pain and now we will try to find a way to alleviate it. Pt, swimming, TENS machine, deep tissue massage, sleeping meds (starting with Melatonin). I also intend to throw in Reiki and Hypnotherapy. Hopefully with time and these therapies she can re-train her brain and nervous system not to over-react to pain. Thanks to those who shared their stories. You were bothright our kids are going thru similar things. Any tips from those that have dealt with this are more than welcome!! > Thank you, > Kirsten, mom to , 6, spondy & now " Pain Syndrome " >
Guest guest
Hi! Well our experiences with pain disorders started a while back. My advice? See a pain specialist. It helped me A LOT. Sometimes the pain doctor would do more than the rhuemy. She does NOT need to be on heavy duty pain killers. Once you get those than all of the milder pills don't feel like relief, even though it is. I suggest clonidine, I was on it for a while until our pharmacy messed it up and it caused blood pressure issues that wouldn't go away. Keep it in low doses and she should be fine. melatonin is you best friend. There is also a book about pain syndromes that our doctor gave us. If you would like that than please let me know and i will get the title and author. In the book it explains that some pain syndromes are similar to " phantom pains " after and amputation. When your brain sends so many signals of pain sometimes it gets confused and sends pain even though it's not supposed to be hurting. Phantom pains are when after something is amputated you feel pain where that amputated body part used to be. (so this means that if you ask a doctor to cut off your leg because it hurts so bad, you probably won't solve anything) I wish you luck Xoxo Shea On Feb 16, 2011, at 11:51 AM, " kirsten " <wilderhealing@...> wrote: > So we had our rhuemy apt yesterday. Guest guest
Thanks Shea! I'm glad you're getting some relief with a Pain Specialist. I figure that will be our next step if the PT doesn't help. We started Kat on Melatonin (and cut back the steriods) just a few nights ago and she has slept thru since. I feel tons better already so imagine it's helping her feel better as well! Take care, Kirsten > > > So we had our rhuemy apt yesterday. Good news is arthritis is finally coming under control. Yeah!
