Guest guest
Hi all, my daughter was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis when she was 4 , back in Sept , 2009. She had fallen in the summer and hurt her knee, it swelled up so bad and I took her to get it xray'd. They could not find a fracture due to the swelling, but they put her in a cast anyways. 2 weeks later a re check still swelling, they sent us to a ortho and he did an mri, he said he believed it was juvenile arthritis. We were sent to the childrens hospital 4 hrs away from our home to see a rheumatologist, where she confirmed she did have jr, she was out in an anti infammitory and joint injections scheduled, her knees were injected a month later, with no relief...Within a yr she went from 2 joints inflammed to over 20, she was put on oral methotrexate.she was on it for 6 months with little relief , she had another round of injections done this time 7 joints were injected. Now when we went back in Jan , she decided to go with meth injections , which I was taught to do here at home, she also started the process of getting her ready to start a biologic incase when wego back in two weeks she sees no change . I dunno if its wishful thinking or power of prayer but I think she is finally seeing some relief, she still has her bad days with pain and swelling but I think it is better then it was , so iam hoping in two weeks she will not reccommend a biologic. Also we found out though blood work and seeing an immulogist that she has a iga deficiency , and a very low immune system. She never made a antibodies in her blood, so she has to wear a medical alert bracelet, this has all been so very hard and frustrating seeing your child go through soo much in her young life. But she is so brave and she makes her mom feel better , when its my job to make her feel better.
Guest guest
Sorry that your daughter is having to go through this, but am glad that you are seeing some improvement with the injectable mtx. I know that it is scary to think about the biologics but they are so good and make life so much better. It is not fun giving your child an injection I know but sometimes it has to be done. And when they start feeling better you are glad that you did it. I also hope that in two weeks you will be seeing much better results and that the mtx does the job. We did not ever take the mtx oral we only did the injections and now are on the mtx injections as well as enbrel and doing better. Let us know how the appointment goes in a couple of weeks. We will be praying for you. Veri & Jaye 17 poly Daughter with JIA Hi all, my daughter was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis when she was 4 , back in Sept , 2009. Guest guest
, I understand the single mom thing all to well. It is not easy but you will do fine. One day at a time is all we can do anyway so I just try to remind myself that I can not worry too much about tomorrow until it gets here.
