Guest guest
Hi all. I just wanted to let you know my daughter, Sam's check up went ok. The Dr. said that her eyes were still quiet at this time. He added an extra week on of the Pred Forte drops at one drop each eye daily. So we have to more weeks of that then a week with no drops then back on August 22 for a checkup. I will assume I am going to be going to the Opt.Dr. atleast every month for awhile to we make sure this is all under control. I was use to going to they Dr. for the eyes atleast every 3 to 4 months so this is a bit of a change. Got to do what you got to do though. Sam is the most important. Our Rheum has always insited that we have her eyes checked on a regular basis. I guess he is the best in his field in this area. He is from Children's hospital here in Pittsburgh. Dr. Rosen. Eye Dr is Cheung (eye dr isn't childrens but Rhem highly recommends him. was first diagnosed with JRA at about 18months. We had taken her to her PCP for a regular check and noticed at that point she had a swollen knee. Then we got into the discussion about her falling down a lot. I had thought it was from her new shoes.(Little did I know) So they intial had us go to a bone dr. He didn't find anything that way and then we had several trips to Childrens Hosp. and some knee tappings, blood work, MRI and finally diagnoses. The Uveitis is a new thing that happened in May. We continue with every 3months to the Rhem. Every month right now to the Eye, blood work every 2mo. 3 shots a week for the JRA, Plus folic acid, flourid, singular, claritn, nasonex when needed. Not all the meds for JRA but it looking at my cupboard and seeing all those pills and things you would think it was for a 90yr old not a 4yr old. I apprecitate all the words of encouragement for the other days posting. I think one of my biggest suggestions for someone who is new to JRA if you are a working parent and have to have your child in daycare as I do. Make sure its a small one and stress so much of them having to let you know about illness in the school. We had some scares in a bigger school with exposure to chicken pox and things. (stories for another day) But if your child is on immune suppressing meds you gotta know. You have to press into them to let you know and ride them if they don't. Some of those childhood disease can be fatal to your child. I pray for all of you and your daily battles. I am sooo glad I found you all. Thanks, Cori -- 's Mom
