Guest guest
Quick question: is going for an MRI on Monday to see what's going on with all the pain she's been in lately. She is also starting a new round of Prednisone tomorrow. Will the prednisone alter/affect the MRI results? I didn't think to ask the Dr. if we should hold off until after the MRI or not, and of course it's the weekend now. Any ideas? Should I hold off until after the MRI do you think? Guest guest
I'm not sure how it affects arthritis results, but I know when my daughter was going in for a biopsy for her liver (She has autoimmune issues there too) and her arthritis acted up and she wasn't allowed naxproxen due to clotting issues. They also refused to let her be on prednisone because it would alter the biopsy results. I think you need to ask her doctor. (Is there a doctor on call that can answer your question?) I would err on the side of caution if you can't get hold of your doctor. My daughter just had to tough it out. Something good happened afterwards. She got through the bad slump and we now discover that she doesn't always need to be on Naxproxen like we thought! Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. Put a call into the dr. on-call. According to her, prednisone will NOT affect the MRI results for arthritis. I don't get it, but I'm glad! Guest guest
Thanks Veri! Last MRI she had, 2 years ago, was of her foot. She constantly had pain but nothing noticeable on exam or labs. That showed active arthritis and validated her pain. That's when we started Enbrel. Same thing is going on now, pain all the time, this time all over, but nothing visible. I'm guessing it will be a similar result, hope it's not something new! As for weather, well it's a true Maine winter! We have tons and tons of snow. They're trucking it out of our town and dumping it in a giant pond. Then last night we topped it all off with a lovely little ice storm. It's pretty but super slippery! Thank goodness today was warmish and sunny and beautiful. Lots of melting. Next storm on Tuesday!
