Oh Robbin, what a nightmare. I am so glad that you are are okay--well

considering. But that is absurd and ridiculous about what happened. I would

write a letter to the hospital and to your state health department. They need to

get their act together. Like you said, that could have caused some serious

problems. I was given the wrong medicine once from my pharmacy and the only

reason I realized it was because I still had one of the old pills left. If I

would have taken what they gave me I would have gone unconscious. Because of my

letters a pharmacy had to change their entire system--which is helpful to so

many. Gentle hugs to and I pray she has no long lasting effects.

Hi All,

Well we talked about the Medical records mess before. Well about 7pm

tonight and I was coming home and we were at a RED Light. was

wearing her seat belt like all times and I was too. had just got her a

KFC meal. Heading home and to get warm as it was COLD here today.

I stopped at the RED Light and thinking it was safe to move lolol

She sat her meal in the bag in the floor board. JUST as she leans over we

get a Smack in the back end. Yep someone was not paying attention and we got

hit. The light was R E D meaning stop but mot let me stop you right. Well I got

out of the car and walked to the back and asked the young guy what was he

thinking. I looked at my car and did not see any damage but it is DARK. He said

here's my insurance card and Driver's licenses. I heard holler for me

and she said Mom call 911 I am hurting BAD. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I walked back to

the guy and said well my daughter is calling 911 as he said Ma'Am I am so

sorry. It was my fault. I was trying to grab my drink as it was knocked over

UMMM He thought the drink was ummm lets say more important than where he was

going. I gave him the MOM preaching about it is important to keep your eyes on

the road. lololol. As this intersection is known to be for Tractor Trailers.

I said did you know if my car was not in your way you would have went into a

Tractor Trailer. He said yes I would have.

Well The police came and had the NERVE to ask me how much did I drink?

Shocked I said well I been drinking Pepsi all day. lololol. Maybe they ask

that to everyone. The Ambulance came and got to hollering in pain as

they tried to get her out of my car. A Friend on the EMT Ambulance was there and

was trying to help get out. I hollered at them and said I have a

Lever to let the back of the seat down. it took 3 men to think of how to get her

out. I called my hubby and daughter in law as we were less that a mile from

the house. My daughter in law did not wait on hubby and left him. lolololol.

She got there just as they pulled out. lolol. felt better but

still in pain as her neck was braced and she was on a back board. The Friend

came over and said Robbin she will be ok. I have to make sure as if I don't

NOW The Ambulance had ALL info on CORRECTLY. Remember the Police

and EMT's and Ambulance people had the CORRECT info. Since I could not leave

my car I was told to drive it on home and one of my family members would take

me on to the Hospital where would be. My Sister had left work to

take me. Well I got there and the Triage lady asked who I needed and I said

well My daughter was brought in by Ambulance and I gave her 's name. She

said Ma'am she has not got here yet. My Sister and I looked at each other and

said Umm she had plenty of time to get here by Ambulance. Then the lady

found . After almost giving me a Heart Attack with the thought of

in a Hospital somewhere I did not know about. We went back to see her. She was

in a lot of pain. On the backboard still and neck brace on. So we waited for

xrays to be done and make sure nothing was broken. Thank goodness nothing

was broke. said Mom you know they came in here with the Motrin to give

me and I told them I was allergic to it before you got here. She said the

lady was going to give it to her anyway. said hey If you give it to me

after I tell you I can not take it then something is wrong. So the lady went

to tell the Dr had refused the medication. Ummm Remember this.

I went and found the lady and told her Look on her record she has

Allergys to many drugs. I am proud of my daughter for asking what you were about

to

give her as she knows she is allergic to so much. She said well it does not

show she is allergic to anything here. Another RED Flag which I missed. I

thought well maybe the Ambulance people did not tell her. Ummm RED FLAG Since

was gagging as with every move she was feeling as she was going to

throw up. The Dr said to give her another Medication. said wait a minute

what is that first. Well I have learned to read up on Medications as you never

know if it is similar to a drug which causes a reaction. This was a ok drug

so took it.

We got to the check out office and I be dang. They have as age 24

yrs old and Ummm She is not but someone else. UMMM We looked at her ER

Bracelet and yep They have put someone elses name on . Oh what else

Well the Prescription is written for another person so we can not get it

filled. lololol. I have to laugh as it is way to Serious now. I looked at

the record of what she was given. It says Patient refused Medication which is

true. It was a Med which she is allergic to. BUT the other patient was not.

They had did all those xrays in another persons name as well. I told them well

I am glad she was able to speak up as if she was unconsous you would have

probably killed her. At this point the Nurse and Administration was called and

We were told oh Ma'am we are so sorry about the mix up but the Computer put it

in wrong? I said How in the H can a computer put in wrong info. lolol. I am

just glad my daughter was awake and was able to voice her health to you. A

Medical Mistake again? Serious one if she was not awake.

I asked if her xrays were done in the other persons name as well. They

admitted it was in the other persons name. WHich I said well that HAS to be

straightened out cause I need those xrays and the Medical report. Well before

we left I looked over ALL the papers and dang it again her name was wrong.

They missed spelled her last name by 1 letter and again I said it is still not

right. Ok over it all again and FINALLY it was fixed. I said ok come next week

when I come to get Copies if I have ANY trouble getting them I will go

looking for y'all to straighten it out once again. lolol.

Now here it is a Simple ER visit becomes a Dangerous situation if the

person was not awake. So next time anyone has to go to the ER make sure someone

goes with them as well as checking the bracelet and asking about the

Medication being given. Get the name and dose. Just in case it is something the

person is allergic to. is asleep now and hoping tomorrow is not hard on

her. I will make sure from now on NOT to send or anyone in a Ambulance

without a Family member.

Hopefully this is a better Morning Robbin!!

    All that I can say is " SHEESH! "   (is that even a word?)

    I am sorry that this had to happen to you and in the first place, I

am really sorry that things got so mixed up that could have been injured

more by the people who took an oath to take care of her and save her life than

the guy that was trying to save his drink from spilling in his car!!

    Maggie was released from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon and thank God

she checks all of her meds before she takes them. I was busy packing up her

things and trying to get home to a 14 year old that got herself in some trouble

at school (again), while the nurse was giving Maggie her meds. She takes a med

for anxiety and apparently the pharmacy had two different generics of this drug.

Her nurse didn't even read the medication just opened them up and poored them

into her hand. Maggie asked her what the one pill was that she had never seen

before, she said she didn't know but just take it because it was in her med

drawer. Maggie refused, after I stopped long enough to pay attention and made

the nurse pull the package back out of the trash it was the same as the other

anxiety pill........just shaped different. NICE!

   I am so thankful that was not broken but sometimes some injuries can

hurt worse than a broken bone!!

   I will keep you guys in my prayers as always and send a few extra ones along

's way!

Dear Robbin,

  I am so sorry that you guys were in a car accident!  I have never been in one

and i think i would be terrified to ever get in a car again...heehe.  I hope

feels better soon.

That is so scarey. Tell I am so sorry she got hurt. I got hit by a drunk

driver this past January (I was in Rob's car) and it took me over 6 months for

my neck to feel better. It still bothers me from time to time. The other

person's insurance should pay for all medical costs.

There was a fatal car wreck in Indiana a few years back. One girl died and one

lived (there were 5 total in the car, I think). The girls looked similar and the

one that died was id'd as the one who lived. When the other girl came out of her

coma and they called her by the wrong name, she told them that wasn't her name.

One family had buried the other girl as their own daughter while another had

been helping to make medical decisions on her care. Very very scarey. Thank

goodness is very aware and that you were there with her. I hope she

heals soon.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident and that is

hurt. That alone is enough to shake you up without the hospital

records getting mixed up. I'm glad to hear that both of you are OK.

Car Accident to a Medical Record Mix up? Yep lolol

Hi All,

Well we talked about the Medical records mess before. Well about 7pm

tonight and I was coming home and we were at a RED Light. was

wearing her seat belt like all times and I was too. had just got her a

KFC meal. Heading home and to get warm as it was COLD here today.

I stopped at the RED Light and thinking it was safe to move lolol

She sat her meal in the bag in the floor board. JUST as she leans over we

get a Smack in the back end. Yep someone was not paying attention and we got

hit. The light was R E D meaning stop but mot let me stop you right. Well I got

out of the car and walked to the back and asked the young guy what was he

thinking. I looked at my car and did not see any damage but it is DARK. He said

here's my insurance card and Driver's licenses. I heard holler for me

and she said Mom call 911 I am hurting BAD. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I walked back to

the guy and said well my daughter is calling 911 as he said Ma'Am I am so

sorry. It was my fault. I was trying to grab my drink as it was knocked over

UMMM He thought the drink was ummm lets say more important than where he was

going. I gave him the MOM preaching about it is important to keep your eyes on

the road. lololol. As this intersection is known to be for Tractor Trailers.

I said did you know if my car was not in your way you would have went into a

Tractor Trailer. He said yes I would have.

Well The police came and had the NERVE to ask me how much did I drink?

Shocked I said well I been drinking Pepsi all day. lololol. Maybe they ask

that to everyone. The Ambulance came and got to hollering in pain as

they tried to get her out of my car. A Friend on the EMT Ambulance was there and

was trying to help get out. I hollered at them and said I have a

Lever to let the back of the seat down. it took 3 men to think of how to get her

out. I called my hubby and daughter in law as we were less that a mile from

the house. My daughter in law did not wait on hubby and left him. lolololol.

She got there just as they pulled out. lolol. felt better but

still in pain as her neck was braced and she was on a back board. The Friend

came over and said Robbin she will be ok. I have to make sure as if I don't

and EMT's and Ambulance people had the CORRECT info. Since I could not leave

my car I was told to drive it on home and one of my family members would take

me on to the Hospital where would be. My Sister had left work to

take me. Well I got there and the Triage lady asked who I needed and I said

well My daughter was brought in by Ambulance and I gave her 's name. She

said Ma'am she has not got here yet. My Sister and I looked at each other and

said Umm she had plenty of time to get here by Ambulance. Then the lady

found . After almost giving me a Heart Attack with the thought of

in a Hospital somewhere I did not know about. We went back to see her. She was

in a lot of pain. On the backboard still and neck brace on. So we waited for

xrays to be done and make sure nothing was broken. Thank goodness nothing

was broke. said Mom you know they came in here with the Motrin to give

me and I told them I was allergic to it before you got here. She said the

lady was going to give it to her anyway. said hey If you give it to me

after I tell you I can not take it then something is wrong. So the lady went

to tell the Dr had refused the medication. Ummm Remember this.

I am glad she was able to speak up as if she was unconsous you would have

probably killed her. At this point the Nurse and Administration was called and

in wrong? I said How in the H can a computer put in wrong info. lolol. I am

just glad my daughter was awake and was able to voice her health to you. A

admitted it was in the other persons name. WHich I said well that HAS to be

right. Ok over it all again and FINALLY it was fixed. I said ok come next week

when I come to get Copies if I have ANY trouble getting them I will go

looking for y'all to straighten it out once again. lolol.

Now here it is a Simple ER visit becomes a Dangerous situation if the

person was not awake. So next time anyone has to go to the ER make sure someone

goes with them as well as checking the bracelet and asking about the

Medication being given. Get the name and dose. Just in case it is something the

person is allergic to. is asleep now and hoping tomorrow is not hard on

her. I will make sure from now on NOT to send or anyone in a Ambulance

without a Family member.

Holy Crap!  Robbin...I hope you are doing ok too....I've heard way too many

people hurting like you know what the next day, so take it easy, ok?

 

Give a gentle hug for us and tell her we all hope she's feeling better

soon.  Good for her for speaking up, but how scary to think if she couldn't

have!   I probably scare people half to death with my stories sometimes, but you

are right....you have to watch everything everyone does in medical

situations....don't assume ANYTHING...it's way too dangerous anymore!   

 

Our latest..... had to get drops for her iritis (ueveitis) last week.  

The doc gave her steroid drops and dilating drops.  Hubby got the scripts filled

at the pharmacy and I read the instructions when I got home.  She has iritis

only in her right eye.  Steroid drops say to put in right eye 6x a day. 

Dilating drops say each eye 2x a day.  I questioned the dilating drops at first,

since nothing was wrong with her left eye, but I thought...well, perhaps it was

for comfort so she wouldn't be walking around with only one eye dilated.  All

week we've been giving her the drops as indicated.  Friday, hubby takes

for follow up with eye doc.  She can't read the chart with her left eye.  The

nurse gets quiet...says...ummm...doc will be right with you...He does test again

but for shorter duration.  Looks at 's left eye and says to hubby " You've

been putting dilating drops in her left eye??? "   Hubby says, well yes, that's

what the

script said.  Doc says no, only supposed to be the right eye...here's the

script......the pharmacy filled it wrong!!! I was livid!!!   Pharmacy claims

docs " D " wasn't closed and they read as a " U "   " OD " means right eye " OU " means

each eye.  But she had another script they read correctly...so I question that. 

I got copies of both scripts and doc says will be ok...but just another

example of how vigilant you need to be!

Ok, so I was typing and all of a sudden my mail was sent with only the first

line.? What I wanted to say is that we all need to be responsible to double

check each script we get from the doctor. Whether or not it is for me or one of

my children I make sure that I know they have received the right prescription.

Pharmacists are humans and all humans make mistakes. Yes they are supposed to

have a double check system and I believe most of them do but mistakes happen.

After Jaye was over medicated with 5x the dose of one of her seizure

medications for three months I make sure. The mistake with her medication was

done by the girl that entered the information off of the script wrong into the

computer, but the pharmacist that was supposed to double check it, missed it

also. Fortunate for him, he admitted it right off the bat and immediatly

appologized and began the process to make sure that Jaye was taken care

right and get her the treatment she needed free of charge, I did not have time

to get mad. I just had to take care of my baby.?By the time we knew all was

right with her, I was not mad.? But it sure makes me pay attention. Something

that I should have done tostart with.? As for the name problem at the hospital

with the wrong bracelet, again it was the mistake of one person that could have

caused severe problems for and severe consequences for many other

hospital staff that were following things the way they should have had the first

person not made the mistake. Everytime we go to the hospital for bloodwork or

xrays or even to see the rheumy, Jaye gets a bracelet to say who she is.

I always check that just because I am a bit over cautious.? After this mistake

with I will never give myself a hard time for being over cautious.?

Jaye knows her allergies and can spout them off very quickly when asked

just like she can the list of med's she is on. Now I think I will also make sure

that Jaye

checks her wrist band. she might already do it just because I do but I will be

sure to make sure she knows she needs to look at it and make sure all

theinformation is right on it.? Everyone in this world is busy and everyone is

just trying to do their job and get done. As we all know, no one is going to

lookout for our kids for us like we will. And we have to everything in our power

to teach them to take care of theirself when we are not there for them.

Car Accident to a Medical Record Mix up? Yep lolol

Hi All,

Well we talked about the Medical records mess before. Well about 7pm

tonight and I was coming home and we were at a RED Light. was

wearing her seat belt like all times and I was too. had just got her a

KFC meal. Heading home and to get warm as it was COLD here today.

I stopped at the RED Light and thinking it was safe to move lolol

She sat her meal in the bag in the floor board. JUST as she leans over we

get a Smack in the back end. Yep someone was not paying attention and we got

hit. The light was R E D meaning stop but mot let me stop you right. Well I got

out of the car and walked to the back and asked the young guy what was he

thinking. I looked at my car and did not see any damage but it is DARK. He said

here's my insurance card and Driver's licenses. I heard holler for me

and she said Mom call 911 I am hurting BAD. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I walked back to

the guy and said well my daughter is calling 911 as he said Ma'Am I am so

sorry. It was my fault. I was trying to grab my drink as it was knocked over

UMMM He thought the drink was ummm lets say more important than where he was

going. I gave him the MOM preaching about it is important to keep your eyes on

the road. lololol. As this intersection is known to be for Tractor Trailers.

I said did you know if my car was not in your way you would have went into a

Tractor Trailer. He said yes I would have.

Well The police came and had the NERVE to ask me how much did I drink?

Shocked I said well I been drinking Pepsi all day. lololol. Maybe they ask

that to everyone. The Ambulance came and got to hollering in pain as

they tried to get her out of my car. A Friend on the EMT Ambulance was there and

was trying to help get out. I hollered at them and said I have a

Lever to let the back of the seat down. it took 3 men to think of how to get her

out. I called my hubby and daughter in law as we were less that a mile from

the house. My daughter in law did not wait on hubby and left him. lolololol.

She got there just as they pulled out. lolol. felt better but

still in pain as her neck was braced and she was on a back board. The Friend

came over and said Robbin she will be ok. I have to make sure as if I don't

well My daughter was brought in by Ambulance and I gave her 's name. She

said Ma'am she has not got here yet. My Sister and I looked at each other and

said Umm she had plenty of time to get here by Ambulance. Then the lady

found . After almost giving me a Heart Attack with the thought of

in a Hospital somewhere I did not know about. We went back to see her. She was

in a lot of pain. On the backboard still and neck brace on. So we waited for

xrays to be done and make sure nothing was broken. Thank goodness nothing

was broke. said Mom you know they came in here with the Motrin to give

me and I told them I was allergic to it before you got here. She said the

lady was going to give it to her anyway. said hey If you give it to me

after I tell you I can not take it then something is wrong. So the lady went

to tell the Dr had refused the medication. Ummm Remember this.

I went and found the lady and told her Look on her record she has

Allergys to many drugs. I am proud of my daughter for asking what you were about

to

give her as she knows she is allergic to so much. She said well it does not

show she is allergic to anything here. Another RED Flag which I missed. I

thought well maybe the Ambulance people did not tell her. Ummm RED FLAG Since

was gagging as with every move she was feeling as she was going to

throw up. The Dr said to give her another Medication. said wait a minute

what is that first. Well I have learned to read up on Medications as you never

know if it is similar to a drug which causes a reaction. This was a ok drug

so took it.

They missed spelled her last name by 1 letter and again I said it is still not

right. Ok over it all again and FINALLY it was fixed. I said ok come next week

when I come to get Copies if I have ANY trouble getting them I will go

looking for y'all to straighten it out once again. lolol.

Now here it is a Simple ER visit becomes a Dangerous situation if the

person was not awake. So next time anyone has to go to the ER make sure someone

goes with them as well as checking the bracelet and asking about the

Medication being given. Get the name and dose. Just in case it is something the

person is allergic to. is asleep now and hoping tomorrow is not hard on

her. I will make sure from now on NOT to send or anyone in a Ambulance

without a Family member.

In Washington state doctors must type all prescriptions. There are no more

handwritten ones to prevent these kind of errors. How scary. And yes we all have

to be vigilant.

Well we talked about the Medical records mess before. Well about 7pm

tonight and I was coming home and we were at a RED Light. was

wearing her seat belt like all times and I was too. had just got her a

KFC meal. Heading home and to get warm as it was COLD here today.

I stopped at the RED Light and thinking it was safe to move lolol

She sat her meal in the bag in the floor board. JUST as she leans over we

get a Smack in the back end. Yep someone was not paying attention and we got

hit. The light was R E D meaning stop but mot let me stop you right. Well I got

out of the car and walked to the back and asked the young guy what was he

thinking. I looked at my car and did not see any damage but it is DARK. He said

here's my insurance card and Driver's licenses. I heard holler for me

the guy and said well my daughter is calling 911 as he said Ma'Am I am so

the house. My daughter in law did not wait on hubby and left him. lolololol.

She got there just as they pulled out. lolol. felt better but

still in pain as her neck was braced and she was on a back board. The Friend

OMG Robbin:  that is so scary.  Poor , please give her a gentle hug from

Hannah  & I.  Thank God you were with her or things could have been so much

worse.  Tell her I'm very proud of her for speaking up and knowing her own

history so well.  Hopefully you still feeling ok.  I know sometimes you don't

My thoughts are with , I can not believe this could happen, Thank you for

warning us all. I hope is ok and  i will cont. to pray for her.  I also

hope you will cont to call the hospital to complain as well as the insurance

company to make sure you do not have to pay a dime. I would even call the local

paper. THIS should of never happen and thank god she was able to speak up.

We got to the check out office and I be dang. They have as age 24

yrs old and Ummm She is not but someone else. UMMM We looked at her ER

Bracelet and yep They have put someone elses name on . Oh what else

could go wrong now. lololol

Well the Prescription is written for another person so we can not get it

filled. lololol. I have to laugh as it is way to Serious now. I looked at

the record of what she was given. It says Patient refused Medication which is

true. It was a Med which she is allergic to. BUT the other patient was not.

They had did all those xrays in another persons name as well. I told them well

I am glad she was able to speak up as if she was unconsous you would have

probably killed her. At this point the Nurse and Administration was called and

We were told oh Ma'am we are so sorry about the mix up but the Computer put it

in wrong? I said How in the H can a computer put in wrong info. lolol. I am

just glad my daughter was awake and was able to voice her health to you. A

Medical Mistake again? Serious one if she was not awake.

I asked if her xrays were done in the other persons name as well. They

admitted it was in the other persons name. WHich I said well that HAS to be

straightened out cause I need those xrays and the Medical report. Well before

we left I looked over ALL the papers and dang it again her name was wrong.

They missed spelled her last name by 1 letter and again I said it is still not

right. Ok over it all again and FINALLY it was fixed. I said ok come next week

when I come to get Copies if I have ANY trouble getting them I will go

looking for y'all to straighten it out once again. lolol.

Now here it is a Simple ER visit becomes a Dangerous situation if the

person was not awake. So next time anyone has to go to the ER make sure someone

goes with them as well as checking the bracelet and asking about the

Medication being given. Get the name and dose. Just in case it is something the

person is allergic to. is asleep now and hoping tomorrow is not hard on

her. I will make sure from now on NOT to send or anyone in a Ambulance

without a Family member.

To let everyone know,

is sore but moving around. She got bruised up but other than that

she will be fine. I am glad it was not worse. As said you know Mom

if you were not holding those brakes tight we could have been pushed under

those of those trucks turning. Believe me I sit at that red light at times and

I

can see right under them. I let that young man who hit us know about it.

Seen to many accidents at that red light due to some mishap. I am glad the boy

was not going faster than he was.

My sister though said WHAT were you doing out after dark? lololol. I said

well going to pick up then over to KFC to get her supper. Then Home.

She is the sister next to me and is cautious about family as if anyone of us

get's into a accident it is What were you doing out? lololol. Like she is

OUR Mom as I told her I was fine as well as driving. It was not something I did

but someone else did. I started laughing as she was down right serious. But

hey I am part of a big family. Dang everyone of my Siblings were calling me

while I was with at the Hospital. I told my step Dad yesterday as he

asked if anyone had called and I said Yes the family grape vine has done their

calling to me lololol. He said well I knew you would get a lot of calls just

to make sure all is ok. Big Family with only 1 calling 1 person ends up a

grape vine lolol.

So sorry to read of the accident! I am so glad was able to speak

for herself. I still have neck pain from my accident, nearly 2 years

ago. Hopefully because you were hit from behind, it will be an easier

recovery for her. Tell her to take it easy and make sure she checks

those pill bottles! LOL

I'll bet you scared that kid good and he'll think twice before he grabs
