Guest guest
Hi everyone! Happy Friday. I hope that everyone has some fun plans for the weekend. I'm behind on posts (need to reply to some and give a update - but his appt went well), but we have had something come up quickly that I wanted to get some opinions on. My husband has been dealing with a sore throat since Wednesday-ish. Today it was hurting badly enough that he decided to stay home and have it checked out. Test came back full blown strep. He has an antibiotic for it now but I'm wondering how worried we need to be with because of his meds. He has just a bit of a cough and congestion but so do our other two kids and I have some congestion as well. I don't think my husband has been sharing any food with recently and I'd think if had a sore throat he'd be letting us know by refusing to eat. I called the nurseline at our pediatrician's office to leave a message for the nurse and our Dr. and unfortunately the nurse who called me back didn't instill a lot of confidence in me (which is the first time I've had that happen there). :/ When I talked with our ped last week regarding a fever had, he said that since we're dealing with JRA (and not HLH as we had initially feared) there's not quite the same level of worry to a fever and other infection and we can treat him more like a " normal " kid since he's not as immunosuppressed and he'd be if he had HLH. Has that been the experience of folks here and we should just take basic precautions like we would with our other two kids? Thanks everyone!
