It seems to always be there for us on the edges but now has come back 100%. Jaye has been battling this viral crud for over six weeks. Her symptoms have changed a bit through out it but she can not kick it. Cold & cough to start with, over two weeks of headache, now that the headache is basically gone she is left with the exhaustion. She has no energy to do anything. Sinus xrays eliminated the possiblity of a sinus infection, we saw the rheumy a week and a half ago and he checked her out good and found nothing to give antibiotic for. He said it has to be just something viral. I think she has missed at least one day per week of school through this and some weeks more. She comes home and just has zero energy and lays around. She can watch television of course and listen to music so she is not totally bored out of her mind. But she does not want to go much at all or do much at all. She has this light nagging cough and some stuffyness in her nose but the do not believe she is haveign problems with her allergies. She has never had a problem with allergies which is nice. Two days ago I went back in and asked what else we can look for so they drew more blood and sent it off. Looking for mono and something else I can not remember but of course they are not next day results. Two weeks of school left and then she can sleep all day if necessary but that sure is not the way to spend her summer. Besides she is set to have her widom teeth extracted on May 25th and I do not want them to have to cancel that. Veri & Jaye 17 poly
Guest guest
She is not sure but viral and they do not think it is allergies. Allergy meds make her more tired as well. So are we going to get anywhere giving them to her???? Veri Re: Viral Crud, will it ever go away OK, frustration is back full force. Guest guest
The mono test is a good idea. Peyton had dust mite allergies and she sounded a lot like this. We put allergy covers on her pillows and mattress, started on Allegra, and now she is great. Also, the Enbrel made my kids catch every " bug " and it is harder for them to fight. I wish it were just the arthritis they deal with, unfortunately it effects everything else! Hope she feels better soon. Audra 14 poly 07 Peyton 13 poly 08 > > > OK, frustration is back full force. Guest guest
Yes, I wonder if it is mono. Mono is a same day test. n has had the test, and we found out right away. Guest guest
Sorry she is having such a hard time. The crud sounds kinda like what Kaylee had a few weeks back. She was so exhausted she didn't do anything and that is totally unusual for her. Kaylee is in a bad flare though and that may have contributed to some of her's. She did have a cough and runny nose too though. I know how you feel about not wanting her to have to spend her summer exhausted and not have fun. Hopefully things will get better and she will be able to enjoy herself. Praying things get better for you, and Kaylee Viral Crud, will it ever go away OK, frustration is back full force. Guest guest
Veri, I hope that starts to be on the mend soon. I know has been dealing with a constant stuffy nose but it seems like all of us have a touch of something running around. Sending lots of good thoughts your way that she starts to turn around. Guest guest
I did not know that Epstein Barr was the same as mono. But yes that is one of which they are testing her for. We sent it to our hospital and the lab there sent it out so it hopefully will be back by the first of the week. It helps alot working in the clinic here that I can visit with the doctors regular and keep them updated. This time we were able to just get the lab drawn without an appointment with the doc. She has seen enough of them over the past six weeks including opth, rheum, neuro, ped, other md, and one of our arnp's. We will find something or she will get better soon I am sure. Thanks. Veri Viral Crud, will it ever go away Hi Veri, I am sorry to hear of Jaye's struggles and I hope she gets to feeling better soon. I read what some said about mono and that crossed my mind also.. had it her sophomore year in h.s. but what I wanted to tell you is something we didn't know - apparently it isn't uncommon to get a false negative for the mono test at first. Although was really ill with it, the initial test was negative, but when symptoms had not subsided nearly 3 months later, her doctor retested her and she tested positive for the Epstein Barr virus (i.e. mono). Thought it might be helpful to know - if she tests negative but symptoms persist. Will be thinking of you both. Please keep us posted. & (poly, PIDD, Hashimotos)
